my entire channel is being age,restrictor and demonetized because I,contacted YouTube support for help with,an issue and now I have to consider,leaving YouTube altogether,happy New Year I've been posting about,this on my Twitter where I firstly want,to thank everyone for the kind words of,support from my content you might have,seen my story on moist critical and,Ludwig's channels among many others and,I'd really again like to thank everyone,who's helped signal boost my content,problems I've had to take a complete,break from the internet the past while,for the sake of my mental health and,this really isn't how I want it to start,the new year so first for those who,don't know what's been happening let me,recap everything along with unfortunate,new developments I've not had a chance,to report yet,on the 28th of December my best of RT,game 2022 video was flagged in age,restricted with no reason given now,YouTube has an appeal system which lets,you request a human review of your,content however when I submitted mine it,was immediately rejected within 10,minutes this video was a compilation of,clips and other videos that were on my,YouTube channel sort of as just a,send-off for 2022. this was an issue,that happened the year prior with my,best of Arctic game 2021 uh for which,the head of YouTube support personally,apologized on behalf of the team the,manual review was incorrect and the,video should not have been flagged in,the first place and because of this I,was still hopeful that I could get my,best of 2022 video restored it helped,that this was a best of video because,all of the videos it was composed of had,already released during 2022 and none of,the original videos that composed it had,been age restricted it's important to,State why this is a huge issue if a,video is age restricted on YouTube you,can only watch it if you submit a,government ID to YouTube to verify your,identity which in a data hungry and your,privacy is meaningless internet age a,lot of people understandably don't want,to do your video is also not suggested,anywhere and it's demonetized and it now,receives limited ads which earns the,Creator significantly less Revenue it,essentially kills your video's,performance entirely it makes it harder,for everyone to find it and you get paid,less my creative friends assured me I,could remove this age restriction I had,a rapid YouTube escalate my issue,because clearly there had been some kind,of mistake here especially with the,precedent that had been set last year,when this exact thing happened and this,was the big mistake,I shouldn't have asked YouTube for help,because I reported my issue I triggered,a mass flaget of my content a second,video was immediately age restricted,followed by 12 more videos being,demonetized with limited acts no reason,was given for any of these and the,manual reviews for all of these videos,were immediately rejected once again a,side note here having a video,demonetized isn't as bad as an age,restriction but it still hurts reaching,performance of the video it also means,the Creator earns less money too because,the video has been deemed not child,friendly enough at this point I was,contacted by this specific YouTube rep,who was able to fix my issue when it,happened last year clearly something was,wrong and they want to personally,resolve it for me I hugely as,child pornography and sex trafficking,so thank you lisa and peter for joining,us today,thanks for having us thanks this,topic of twitter and child sexual abuse,is obviously,so important and has so many ripple,effects but,i and i really want to dive into this,but before we do,could you maybe both introduce,yourselves and tell a little bit about,your background for those who aren't,familiar,well good morning haley thanks for,having me my name is peter gentala,and i am a senior legal counsel,with the national center on sexual,exploitation law center,and uh we focus on,all the ways that sexual exploitation is,connected in our culture,and across the world and we're,particularly focused,on sexual exploitation that happens,online,we're a connected society and a lot of,the ways that,exploiters seek to harm people involve,the internet,so what we're trying to do is bring uh,the most robust form of legal,accountability to the internet,uh as possible and uh it's a big job but,it's something that's really important,and this case is a great example of that,hi good morning haley thank you so much,for having me on your on your podcast,here,my name is lisa habba i am a partner at,the hava law firm,and we are based in the orlando florida,area,our firm i started my legal career,as a criminal prosecutor in central,florida,and i spent approximately eight years as,a prosecutor focusing on human,trafficking sexual abuse against,children and women,and other crimes that would fall under,either the internet crimes against,children,or things of that genre when i left the,prosecution,and we opened our law firm to begin,targeting human trafficking and sexual,abuse at the civil side,a big part of that was was because we,saw,a rampant amount of abuse happening,amongst,legitimate businesses and entities that,were letting it happen in plain sight,and that includes internet platforms,such as twitter and,as part of our lawsuit law firm's,mission is to go ahead and eradicate,that from society,and work hard to bring justice to our,survivors,wow well it's obvious why you two are,working together i just,see how both of your missions um are so,perfectly fitting together,i think online sexual exploitation,particularly of children has been on,people's minds,more so this last year probably than,ever before,with the child sexual abuse materials or,csam,have actually surged over 106 percent,during covid according to the national,center on missing and exploited children,and other research i think that came out,this year or last,found that online grooming for children,for sexual abuse,can actually sometimes take less than 20,minutes so,i think there's so much more awareness,about this right now and more,research coming out about it but still,and this goes a bit to what you were,saying lisa,i think most people assume that this,kind of thing,isn't happening on the big mainstream,social media companies,like companies like twitter they think,are mostly safe,and maybe if something um like child,sexual abuse gets uploaded they remove,it really quickly,but that wasn't the case in the lawsuit,that you're both,working on um so can you can one of you,maybe tell me a bit about the story of,what happened with,this case go ahead lisa,okay sure i'd be happy to,this was a tragic tragic story back in,january of 2020,a mother found out that her son john doe,was about to take his own life and she,found that out from a family friend and,that sort of,opened up a dialogue that sparked this,lawsuit,and what it turned out had happened was,john doe when he was 13 years old,was on snapchat and was talking to,somebody he believed to be,a friend from school somebody that he,actually knew,and in fact what it was instead was a,trafficker posing as a 16 year old girl,well conversations ensued and during the,course of those communications,there was ultimately an exchange of,videos and,photos between a 13 year old boy,and who he believed to be a 16 year old,girl down the street,but the reality was that the traffickers,used,classic grooming tactics and highly,manipulative tools,to entrap this 13 year old boy and his,friend,and that would be john doe number two,who were talking to them,and convinced them not only to send,these things but then immediately turn,this into a sex quotation case,and by that i mean they use these these,images these videos and said if you,don't do,x we will release these to your parents,we will release these to your coach,we will release these videos to your,pastor the people in the community that,you know,love and care about and as a result of,that as a result,of the fea
