Twitter advanced search tutorial

hey everyone today I just wanted to do a,quick tutorial on the Twitter advanced, search function that's a feature that, some of you know about some of you don't,but it's a very powerful tool that, allows you to find any given tweet that, you might be looking for I don't know if,maybe you've tried to find a tweet you, sent out before and had trouble locating,it well the Twitter advanced search, function allows you to search very, specifically through any account for any, tweet I'm gonna be doing the tutorial on,my windows-based PC using a Firefox, browser I know a lot of you use your, phones and the app I don't use the app, there's no particular reason for that I,just don't really care for it so I use a,browser both on my phone and on my,laptop if I get enough requests I will, download the app and do a version of,this tutorial for the app on the phone,I'm not even sure if you can do the, advanced search on the app to be honest, with you I just haven't investigated, that okay so how do you get to the,Twitter advanced search feature once, you've logged into your account the, easiest fastest way I found to do it is,to open another tab in your browser and, just google the term excuse me,Twitter Advanced Search, and you can see it pulls up a couple of,options right off the bat on the evil,Google the first one is the one you, usually need which goes to the advanced, search feature in Twitter itself Twitter,Help Center also has a little link down, here on how to use the advanced search, and then other miscellaneous articles as,you go down so I'm gonna go ahead and, click on the Twitter advanced search, link and since I'm already logged into,Twitter it's going to pull up another, instance of my Twitter account with this, box and what this box is is it allows, you to search based on any number of,criteria one of the most common uses is,to find from a particular account so if,you scroll down to where it says, accounts you can do from these accounts,to these accounts or mentioning these, accounts so let's say I want to do from,my own account which is at bear you know, and I want to look for a particular set,of words I'm gonna look for any tweet, containing both Nancy and Pelosi,so what I'm doing is I'm searching my,entire account for any tweet containing, both of these words all of these words, and there we have all the tweets from me,involving Nancy Pelosi,so a lot of times people can use this if,they're trying to find a tweet they did,a long time ago and they can't find it,they've lost it in the vast amount of,information flowing to their account and,you can see up here in the search box, that it has put it in command line form,so if you are the type of person that, likes to just type in your commands, directly this is the format you can use, search for Nancy and Pelosi and then in,parentheses from colon account name I'm,pretty lazy so I tend to just use the,box you can look for tweets from one, account to another account to see who's,tweeting at who you can look for say, anything from real Donald Trump that, mentioned me,sadly enough he has not mentioned to me,but I know he's busy I'm not mad,you can also further refine your search,by checking this which is on by default, that includes all replies so it's not, just tweets that they tweet it out to,their main timeline its replies to other, people, tweets that contain links you can, restrict it show only replies only, things with links you can scroll down, further for engagement that means let's,say I want to see only tweets that have,a thousand replies or a thousand likes,or a minimum you know 500 retweets, whatever particular parameter you want,to define it just allows you to filter, out some of the lower volume stuff a,little bit more fine-tuning for refining, your search you can also go for certain, dates you can go from December of 2007,to January or September 2008 say you, remember vaguely a time when a tweet was, sent out by you or someone else you can, help narrow the search criteria if you,get too many results by using the date, function so that's it in a nutshell,it's very very useful it allows me to go,in and find a tweet I sent out literally,in a matter of seconds I'm sure there's,a lot more you can do with this but, since this is just a basic tutorial I'm,gonna leave it at that, remember you can always go to the,Twitter help and they will give you a,breakdown on exactly what you can do,with the Twitter advanced search alright, thank you very much I appreciate it if,you've enjoyed the video I would, appreciate a subscribe and/or like and,you have any particular requests drop, them in the replies below and I will try,to make it happen for you, thanks again have a great one

How to use Twitter Advanced Search and Tweetdeck to filter for the most useful tweets

How to use Twitter Advanced Search and Tweetdeck to filter for the most useful tweets

hi everyone this is Rena forum I'm the, digital tools reporter at the pointer,Institute today I'm going to show you,how to use Twitter advanced search and, tweet deck to listen into conversations,on the big old mess that is Twitter and, sort it down and find only the best, tweets so this tip was brought to my,attention by Jennifer Greg Hill from the,Newhouse School of Public Communications,at Syracuse University so thanks to you,Jennifer and the issue here is you know,it's really hard to find specific tweets,on Twitter so if I look for a Trump, where Oh Riko right now I'm just gonna, get a mess of things it's gonna be,really unfiltered you know who knows how, much of this is helpful how much of it's,not it's just really surfacing the stuff, that it's finding first so there's,actually a Twitter advanced search which,is hard to find on the Twitter app or,site itself so you know the best way to,find it is to google it and with this, you can really drill down into different, ways to search for things so we do want,to still look up Trump were taco we're,not really looking for any exact phrases, this time around we just want to see, what the best tweets out there are and,you know what I've been seeing this, paper towel story about how President,Trump threw paper towels of people a,whole lot and there's just a ton of,jokes about it online right now so maybe,we remove paper towel and let's give, that a search and you know this is just, about roughly the same stuff here but, what Twitter has done for us is pulled,up this boolean search logic so it's,looking for all of these terms together, but it's also put this minus sign in,front of paper and towel which shows the, search engine that we shouldn't be,looking for those things we're going to,exclude tweets that includes the words, paper and towel we can then take that, boolean logic and jump into tweet deck,we can add a column here using the, search functionality so let's just type, that in right there and now we have this, search column of all of these tweets, excluding paper and towel and with,TweetDeck we can actually dig in a,little bit deeper and I can search by,location or specific users or things, like that, but though what I really think we should, pay attention to is engagement because,we can look at tweets that have reached,a certain threshold to to see what those, are saying so if we want to only see, tweets that have gotten a thousand likes, about Trump in Puerto Rico excluding, paper towels we can do that and we can,see that the top one is Geraldo or,Geraldo I don't remember how to say his, name, blasting fake news reports about Trump's,visit to Puerto Rico's so that might be,something that's interesting to us you, know we report on media news we should, look into it,or what's Anna Navarro saying you know, talking about Puerto Rican debt dr.,Sanjay Gupta says thousands of Puerto,Ricans could die we're already seeing, much more substantive information than,we were just by searching for Trump,Puerto Rico on Twitter itself so you can,use this in a variety of ways all kinds,of things give it a shot see how it,works and let me know what you find, thanks again to Jennifer for bringing, this to my attention we'll see you next, time

Twitter advanced search: 6 tips to get the most from your twitter account

Twitter advanced search: 6 tips to get the most from your twitter account

the most powerful feature that twitter, has is the advanced search even though,i've been on twitter for more than 10,years until recently i hadn't actually, heard of advanced search but now i use,it all the time here are six features of,twitter advanced search that will, revolutionize the way that you search, for your information on twitter,so before we get into these twitter, advanced search features you might be,wondering why you need them at all well, the reason is that when you look at your, twitter feed it actually only shows you, what is happening now and what, information is available now there is a,whole wealth of gold right there in all,the archives of all the people you, follow of all the amazing experts that, are online and if you can work out how,to use the twitter advanced search, feature well you will be able to find, all the information you need and you'll,be make sure that you are reading stuff, that is relevant and useful to you from, the people that you love and whose, advice and experience you value and, here's how you do it any of these, twitter advanced search features can be,typed right into the search bar that, appears on your mobile app or on your, twitter desktop app you don't need to go,to the special advanced search page, which they do have on desktop but not on,mobile but actually twitter makes it,quite tricky to find it so right in your, regular search bar you can put any of,this text and it'll work let's get into,it number one when you want to see, tweets from a particular person and, maybe tweets from them to a particular, person there's a really easy way to do,that you just put from colon their, username into the search box so if it,was me you just put from colon tessa r,davis and if you wanted to see tweets i,had made to andrew tag for example one,of my buddies then you could put from, colon tessar davis to colon andrew jtag, and that would show you the interactions, that we've had on twitter you could do,this with any username and it works a,treat number two find tweets on,particular topics so if you wanted to,see what i've been saying on twitter, about presentations for example you, would put in the search bar from colon, tessa r davis and then you put, presentations and you'll see all the, tweets from me with the word, presentations in it if you want to,exclude a particular term like for, example you want to see stuff that i've,said on twitter about presentations but,you don't want to read about zoom you, would use the hyphen so the hyphen means, you're excluding certain terms so you'd,put from colon tessa r davis, presentations and then hyphen zoom there, you'd see everything i've tweeted about, presentations and it would exclude all,the tweets about him if you put your, search term in inverted commas it will, show the exact search term rather than, the phrase or things that are similar to,it so if you just wanted presentations, with no variation you would put that in,inverted commas if you take it out of,inverted commas then it will be more, flexible on the use of the search term, you've put in number three find tweets, that are popular so sometimes you might, want to look only at tweets that are, particularly popular from someone you, follow maybe to see what your own most, popular tweets are or to look at popular, tweets on a given topic and you can do,this easily using advanced search so you,can do this by looking at the number of,retweets the number of likes or the, number of replies that a tweet has had,and you can set the minimum value you, want to see so there's three terms you, need here it's min underscore retweets, men underscore faves and men underscore, replies and you use each of these with a,color after and then put the number that, you want so if you want to see any, tweets that i've made that have got more, than 2 000 likes for example you would, write from colon tessa r davis men, underscore faves colon 2000 and if you, wanted them to be on a particular topic, you would then put the name of the topic, next to it so presentations so that will, show you all the tweets i've made on,presentations that have a minimum of,2000 likes there may be none number four, sometimes you might only want to see, particular types of tweets and there's a,few options that you have here you can,do it look for tweets that have links in,them you can look for tweets that have, media files attached to them you do this, using filter colon so you put filter, call on links filter colon images filter, colon media and again combine these with, all of your search terms that we've,discussed already to put whatever row of,text you want in the search box and it,will combine all of these together to,give you your advanced search this is,particularly useful if you've got, graphic or image that you've seen on,twitter before that someone's posted and,you cannot manage to find it so for, example i post a video of my dog at a,polling station on twitter if you really, wanted to see murphy when he cast his, vote you could put in the search terms, from colon tessa r davis an

HOW TO USE TWITTER ADVANCED SEARCH FOR LEAD GENERATION

HOW TO USE TWITTER ADVANCED SEARCH FOR LEAD GENERATION

hey what's up guys Ali here for my,social you dot-com and welcome back to,my channel today we're going to talk, about Twitter advanced search how can,you use to the advanced search to,generate some leads for your business,it's very powerful feature of Twitter, platform and guess what not many people, know about it and not many people use, them so that's the topic of today's,video before we jump into the demo you, know what to do subscribe hit the bell, icon and also like this video all right, now let's jump into this and we're gonna, take some examples and use cases that,I'll walk you through in this video, today so here I am I'm signed into the,Twitter and first of all here is the, normal Twitter search right here you, know on the top right hand side so let's,make them let's make an assumption let's,say you are a furniture store or maybe, electronics or you sell furniture and, let's join by the reason I'm giving that, example to that subscribe to do that, okay,so here is what you can do and also, let's say I live in Dallas and you know, let's say let's assume that it's your, local business you're not like a global, business you're a local business and you, know work with the people in your city,or that's your audience so if you are a,furniture store so think about what our, potential keywords or hashtags your, audience might be using that is the key,let me repeat what are the potential, keywords or hashtags your audience might,be using on Twitter so for example if,I'm a furniture store owner and I have, electronics and furnitures and other, stuff one thing that you know people, might be talking about is a new TV I,need a new TV or I want a Super Bowl is,coming up I want a new TV to watch Super,Bowl so they might mean there might be,some conversation around these topics,I'm going to search for that and when, you do that so here's the option so,search filters from people from anyone, and also the location anywhere or near, you so if you're in no close business, this is very important you can select in,near you,and what you will notice is these, results right here, they changed now I am gonna click on,advanced search and just kind of walk, you through some of these up and here's,a powerful thing sometime you don't even, have to use the advanced search and the, tutor search itself is very powerful, anything if you step back it's very a,lot of people use Twitter and especially,if your audience is super active on,Twitter this is very powerful because, people on Twitter they share their, opinions they share their experiences, and if you can figure out the biggest, question what is my audience what type,of keywords or hashtag they're using if,you can't figure that out then you can, connect with these people and then, really you know generate some leads for, your visit, all right now let's click on this, advanced search and here are you know, all the options available let me quickly, walk you through this all of the words,so I want to search for new TV you know, you can do exact phrase so let's do this, any of the words none of these words, also you can add hashtag a language, let's say if you you know your audience,is Spanish or French then you can set, that but also you can track these tweets, are coming from specific account to,account there's a lot of cool stuff do,you want to include replies you want to,see in length you know I want to disable, link why because mostly bloggers, businesses marketers consultants they, include like normal people people who,are gonna by my friend adjust or my TV,or other things they're probably not, gonna include links they're defending, conversation right you can also have, minimum engagement and also like this to,add date less if you want to search in,the window of like last week or last, month you can do all that,so hit Search, let's make sure yeah I still have to let,the near you perfect so now look at this,I'm gonna actually go to the latest, because I want to see the recent, conversation so this person right here, getting our new TV installed right, inside the Jeremy sighs often rice and,it's custom got a new TV so if I'm a,furniture store and let's say I have, couches or sofas on this CAU I can, totally require to this or in a,compensate congratulations on the new TV,or lots of tea and by the way you know, you have a new TV in your living room, how about getting a new sofa or knee, pouch and guess what we have a discount,or we have a campaign going on right now,so you can to lead get into the, conversation with these people of this, person and you know offer your content,in this kid it's not even promotional or,spammy because it's relevant you're,talking to first you can directly, congratulating him on getting the Nutini, and then you kind of you know taking the, conversation to next step look at it so,looks like that's a brand you need new, team recommendation you know you they're,kind of like plugging themselves in,let's just keep going I can't so this, person right here is a can't afford a,new TV till I need to do I probably, won't be able to take

How to use Advanced Search on Twitter

so here we're going to look at doing, some Twitter advanced searches now one,of the first places people go to when, they do a search on Twitter's to this, box up here and they put in the words, that they would like to find so for, example the weather in Cardiff today has, been foggy so I would put in fog and,Cardiff and then do a search Twitter, will always return top tweets you want,to click on all because of those you're,not seeing all the results so here you,can see that all of the tweets have the, words Cardiff and fog in them however if,I was tweeting this morning I wouldn't,have been saying it's really in foggy in,Cardiff I'd say I'm looking up the, window and it's foggy today so I,wouldn't necessarily have the word,Cardiff in it so where you can really, help widen your search as if you go to,the toolbar for twitter.com forward, slash search and it opens this window, and if you click on advanced search this, for me is where the magic really starts,to happen on Twitter so you can put in,all of this word so I could put in fog,and mist which is what other words that, people probably would have been tweeting, this morning so if I want the tweet to,contain the words fog and mist then in,whichever order then I put it in the top, line if I put it in the second line it,has to appear in that order exactly in,the same way as you just written it if,you put it in the third line it can mean, fog or mist here you can exclude words,so if you didn't want any particular, words to to appear in your search, results then you would type those in,there and and here is where I put in,Cardiff so now I'm looking for tweets, that contain the word fog or mist and,the search will come back within a,15-mile radius of Cardiff so remembering,to do all again here and they have the, words fog and,in these and mist however it means I,have a much wider search because these, people are from Cardiff or happen to be,in Cardiff so the search results comes,by if the person has put that there from,Cardiff or from New York or from, whatever you're looking for in there by,yaagh or if they have location services, switched on on their mobile devices when, they're tweeting so it really helps if,there's been an accident and event a big, breaking news story and you want to find, people in a particular place at a,particular time then this is the best, way of of doing that search and then you,can click Save and that search then will,be saved so next time you go to your, search bar here that search will already,be there save you having to go through, the whole process again

Twitter's HIDDEN search tools - twitter tutorial - advanced twitter search - twitter marketing

hey everybody clay archer ceo dpc, technology,on this long holiday weekend i'm sure, some of you will be at home on the, internet so this week we're going to do,a tech tip,on the how to use the advanced search, features inside of twitter i quickly, want to give a shout out to palmetto, technology group ptg they actually, had this tech tip on their blog a few, months back maybe six months ago,and i found myself using it all the time,so let's jump in real quick and we're,going to look at how to use the advanced, search feature inside of twitter, and probably before i get too deep into,it i should explain to you why i would, why you would use this um obviously, twitter being a stream, things come by really quickly and then, they're gone they're actually still, there but you know you don't see them, anymore, and uh every once in a while i find, myself going man, where did where i remember that somebody, said this,or somebody posted an article about this, and i want to go back and read it or see,it or listen to it or whatever it is,but it's almost impossible to find it by,just searching through people's threads,so this is a way to be able to quickly, use some different criteria to search, back through those things we'll start, off by how do you find the advanced,uh search feature you're going to notice, that there it is not available anywhere, when you're looking around inside of,twitter so,there's a couple different ways the, first one is you could simply just, search, twitter advanced search and the first, result there in,google will be twitter advanced search, and it'll bring you right up to the, advanced search page,i don't go that way i typically just in,the search bar, will just search for anything and,as soon as you search for anything you,can just click on advanced search and it,will bring you up into the advanced, search, window so in here basically there's a,bunch of different search, methods that you can do so basically at,the top here, are all the different words and the way,you can uh can search the words so,you can do all of these words meaning, that it has,all of these words in the in the phrase, that you're searching for, then you can do an exact phrase meaning, those words are exactly together in a,phrase, any of these words just meaning that,it's got any of these or some of these, words,in it or you can exclude words by the,nun of word none of these words, you can also do it by hashtags i mean, this is kind of where the more powerful, part for me is,that i can do it by accounts so i can, search for certain people's accounts, whether it is they wrote the tweet or,the tweet was written to,them or they were mentioned in a tweet,so,all three of those are pretty powerful, there are some filters that you can do,you can have ones that only have replies, you can do,ones that only have links outside of it,and there's one more thing that i think,is really kind of super, helpful at least for me is especially if,you have somebody that tweets a lot,and they have some really popular posts, you can really kind of weed it out by,their most popular post,so you can put in a number of likes or a,number of wheat retweets, try and say that five times faster, number reach retweets, and then you can you know filter it out,by that you can also do it by dates but, let's,jump right in and i'm going to do a,couple of quick examples, one thing i use it for all the time i'm,a formula one fan um and there are a few, things that i'm looking for schedules, obviously uh formula one happens all, over the world so sometimes it's in the, middle of the night, and you miss things there's a thing, called paddock pass it's just um,them basically walking around the pit, lane and kind of talking about the race, that's coming up that weekend they talk,to the drivers and stuff,um and i know that is gonna be gonna be,from the f1 account, you know every race weekend or i listen,to it every race weekend whether it's on,a podcast or whether it's on a video, and you can see it brings up paddock, pass from formula one formula one's,super popular,so the first uh one will be the top one,and so obviously i'm not looking for, october 19th or october 12th uh i'm,looking for the latest which would have, been a couple weeks ago when they were,in turkey, and there you go if i click latest, turkey paddy pass and i can just listen,to that podcast and i can, scroll back and i can see they typically,do one or two or three,i can see the different ones for the, weekend or the previous week in emela,or you know i can scroll back through, all of them and i can find them all i,also do this for the tv schedule for, formula one, which is also kind of all over the place,so formula one if i just went into, formula one's account if i just click on,formula one, you'll see that they tweet a bazillion, things a day and i'm never gonna find,uh something from two weeks ago inside,of here because you know they post every, hour on the hour so,that's a great example of where i,typically use it i also, use twitter for a lot of content driven, stuff,so i g

Twitter Advanced Search | 6 Ways How To Use Twitter Advanced Search Feature Like a PRO

what is up people and welcome back to,the channel well in today's video we're,going to talk about, twitter's advanced search features so if,you guys know there is actually a way,you can go ahead and utilize uh,or use the search engines to understand,or to find exactly what you're looking, for, there are certain commands and symbols, that you can go ahead and use while, searching for a particular term,or any words or keywords or phrases and, that's going to give you the best out of,these, search engine platforms it's a similar, way it works for google and twitter,in this video i'm going to share certain, tips that i think will be helpful for,you guys, for getting started with it uh the first, one is,of course the way we search for any, particular search engine,i'm going to use an example as quara, marketing here and it's gonna give me,the all the tweets, for containing quora and marketing in it,uh,let's just see for our marketing there, are two words in this, quora and marketing again this is a,promoted one,um yeah there is quara marketing over, here quarter marketing, there is marketing quara over here so,that's something which is the first one,and everyone is aware of this, but what if i want to go ahead and, search for the uh what do you call the, freeze, all together let's say quora and, marketing together as a,phrase so just add double inverted, commas,in front of i mean just log the quora, marketing with that, and then it's going to give you the, tweets that have quora marketing as a,phrase in it together see quara, marketing for our marketing,or a marketing anyway um,yeah the next one the third one that we,have is uh,quora or marketing this or that, let's so just go ahead and add i mean, just change, the terms a bit quora or,marketing now this is something which is,really important i'm sorry, quora or marketing donors let's take an,example of quora and pinterest because, quora and marketing is very, few of them that you will find anyway so,i'm gonna go ahead for, quora or pinterest yeah and the thing, that i was saying is basically,uh this or thing is very important you, need to make, your or capitalize otherwise it is just, going to give you that particular search, term, the first one that we search for it's,just a normal phrase, and that will not apply but you need to,go ahead and make that or,capitalize yeah anyway so quora or,pinterest so the first one we have is,pinterest, pinterest there are hardly people i,think so tweeting about quora, let me check if i can find one, interest interest user,oh my god there are people not tweeting, about quora at all,is there something in latest, all right so here uh it was like i had,to scroll a bit or whatever but, yeah so quora or pinterest so basically, this is going to work this,or that quora or pinterest youtube or,pinterest youtube or twitter whatever, you want to go ahead and search for,so that was i guess uh it was a third, one, yeah moving on to the fourth one so the, next thing we have,is uh let's say i want,to figure out or filter out tweets that, have, quora minus spaces,so chorus basis feature is one of the, feature or let's say like, let's say uh i wanna in i wanna i wanna,do whatever what you call it,exclude pinterest and, unexclude boards so all the tweets that, have, the word pinterest but it will pinterest,it can be pinterest pins it can be,pinterest, whatever but it cannot have pinterest, group coming boards,it could be pinterest group as well but,it's a very unlikely thing,to not you know complete the group with, the boards because pinterest group, boards are at home, but it has pinterest and it is not going,to have boards in that,or let's say change it and, pinterest marketing i think that would, work a bit, better,it again has pinterest it doesn't have, marketing,is that i'm i'm not getting a term, related to pinterest, all right i'm gonna use a search term, like a very common source from let's say, all, words i want the tweets for all,but i don't want the term as words,it's it's a very broad search term so,i don't know what i'm gonna find see it,has all but it doesn't have, none of the tweets are gonna have words,it will have anything, but that particular so if you want to go,ahead and eliminate a particular, particular search term you can go ahead, and use this one,uh moving on,uh the next one that is the fifth one we,have is of course the hashtag i don't,need to i don't think this is something, that you need to,explain it's basically the hashtag and, this is,i mean again one of the common one and,the next one i have is based on the, language the,you can you go ahead and use it i mean, you can go ahead and search for a,particular thing,uh you know fig with a language let's,say,i want to go ahead and again use over, here quora, and i want to um what you call, filter it out with the language so you, need to go ahead and, type lang, use as english here en,is what you wanna go ahead and search, for so this,is going to give me all the tweets that, are,in english language for quora, yeah i mean if you want to go ahead and,use some o
