- This video got 15 million views on Instagram,,11 million views on TikTok,,and the recipe has been made millions of people worldwide.,Hey everyone, it's Yumna from Feel Good Foodie.,and I was one of the first bloggers to make baked,feta pasta trend on TikTok.,This recipe was created in Finland and brought,to the US by Grilled Cheese Social in 2019.,Now it's known as TikTok pasta,and I've been featured in the Wall Street Journal,New York times and Huffington post for the recipe.,It's basically a block of salty, melty feta cheese,with sweet and juicy cherry tomatoes,that create a heavenly sauce mixed with pasta.,I've made so many versions of the recipe.,So, I'm gonna share with you today,my favorite three versions, plus lots of tips,that you should be paying attention to,,if you wanna try the recipe.,So, let's get started.,We're gonna start with two pints of cherry tomatoes.,It helps if the cherry tomatoes are pretty small,because they're going to be more juicy and more sweet.,So, we're gonna go ahead,and transfer this to a baking dish.,And then we're gonna add half a cup of olive oil.,I know a lot of people think half a cup,of olive oil is a lot, but this really creates the sauce,for the recipe and we're dividing it into eight servings.,So, it really comes out to,about a tablespoon and a half per serving.,And I recommend using extra virgin olive oil,because it makes all the difference,in creating the best sauce for the recipe.,Now we'll add some salt, some fresh pepper,,and give everything a good toss.,Because the recipes made with such minimal ingredients.,It really helps to make sure that everything is super fresh.,So, don't use canned tomatoes.,Don't use dried basil and don't use just regular olive oil.,You wanna make sure,that everything is high quality and super fresh.,I've been getting a lot of questions,about what kind of feta cheese is the best for this recipe.,I think it works with all kinds of feta cheese.,but what I've found is sometimes French feta cheese,can be more creamy and Greek feta also has higher quality.,So, try to find some that's Greek or French if possible.,And if all you can find is crumbled feta cheese,because the stores are running out of it, it's fine.,Just bunch it up in the middle.,So, it doesn't dry out in the oven.,So now we're gonna take the block of feta cheese,,and stick it right in the middle of the baking dish.,And now you can add a touch,of olive oil on top and a little bit more black pepper.,And now we're going to bake this in the oven,at 400 degrees for 35 minutes, while that's in the oven,I'm going to share with you a second version.,So same drill once again.,We'll start with tomatoes, olive oil, salt, and pepper.,Now we had the goat cheese right in the middle.,Something fun I like to do here, is add some honey.,Bake at 400 for 35 minutes.,And now it's time,for the third version of baked feta pasta.,And this one's not baked.,It's done on the stove top.,So, we'll start again.,Same drill.,Tomatoes, olive oil, salt, and pepper.,Now, very carefully take a block of feta,,and place it right in the middle of the pan.,And then for the final touch,,just a little bit of crushed red pepper,,and you can add another drizzle of olive oil on top.,So now we're gonna let this cook on medium heat,for 10 minutes until the feta gets nice and melty,and the tomato starts to burst.,All right, I've got three versions,of feta pasta right in front of me.,And now I'll go ahead and start,with this version and we'll add some basil,,and next garlic,,and now it's time to mix it all together.,You can see the feta is nice and melty.,And the tomatoes are sweet and juicy,,and just bursting, literally.,I love how the tomatoes,,the olive oil and the feta,just create a silky, smooth, and beautiful sauce.,And the more you smash the tomatoes, the more,beautiful it creates a comfy, basically with that.,Time for the pasta.,This is cavatappi pasta, but you can use any kind.,And I also like to add some pasta water,because it really clings,onto the pasta and creates a nice, smooth, and silky sauce.,Then give everything a good toss and it'll be ready to go.,The drill is pretty much the same.,We're gonna add some basil,,some garlic, toss with some pasta and ready to serve.,(gentle upbeat music),So, here's the final product.,So many variations is a baked feta pasta,and I have so many more ideas,,and so many more tips on the website.,So, feel free to check it out,,and let me know which one you try,,and let me know if this recipe is worth all the hype.,And now I'm gonna see a video man,,wants to try it, and which one.,So, what do you think?,All right, he's gonna try the penne.,That's on the stove top.,So, let's see what he thinks of the recipe.,All right.,Video man, here you go.,What do you think?,Awesome. there's no  time that's the one thing about tick tock recipes  ,they'll be giving me the information yeah we need  the info there's no info i don't have the plastic  ,tupperware he uses to make pasta in the microwave  but i do have a glass bowl i have done this before  ,so we're just gonna have to do it this way  yeah okay so we're gonna pour water in here  ,okay just above the pasta itself just above yeah  just keep pouring let me take a look let me take a  ,look how do you feel great keep going keep going  okay oh no not yet not not yet yeah they're not  ,quite covering it i think that's pretty good yeah  we're just gonna pop this in the microwave for 15  ,minutes here we go and we're doing it on top of a  plate so if it bubbles or boils a little bit over  ,it will catch it quick tip if you're making pasta  in the microwave versus on the stove you add three  ,minutes to whatever the instructions are on the  back so if you're cooking pasta on the stove you  ,add an additional three minutes when you put it  in the microwave microwave tips and start well we  ,got 15 minutes let's make it take time oh god we  can make 400. pasta chips is trending pasta chips  ,that looks delicious now this blew up this went crazy,everyone was requesting that i make it,and for some reason i think i was kind,of burnt out on the idea and so i never,made it so i'm going to be making it,today it's been around for a while on,the internet so apparently this recipe,took off way back in 2018 when a finnish,food blogger named jenny herron posted,this recipe on her blog it took off in,finland people loved this recipe they,actually sold out of feta cheese and,then it got reposted on tick tock where,it blew up again but to a global,audience so that is where we are today i,am going to be making a baked feta,tomato pasta,dish that looks delicious it looks very,simple it uses a block of feta cheese,and tomatoes little cherry tomatoes that,you bake and then roast you swirl it all,together with some cooked pasta top it,with basil and that's pretty much your,dish it looks beautiful it looks very,simple and apparently it is quite,tasty but we are here to confirm that so,if you've missed my other tick tock,recipe test i'll put a link down below,to the playlist alrighty let's go ahead,and get started,so behind me i have my oven preheating,to 400 degrees now in a deep casserole,dish we're gonna dump some ingredients,in okay first a healthy drizzle of olive,oil,then a block of feta cheese i'm using,narragansett creamery's feta cheese,feta is salty briny,and it crumbles easily it's great for,salads for that reason,and we're going to place it right in the,middle now surrounding our block of feta,we're going to add our tomatoes these,are grape tomatoes,we're gonna,place them all around,our feta this is probably about a cup,and a half for one of those,packages that you can buy at the,supermarket basically one layer of,tomatoes now we're gonna add some more,olive oil get the top of the feta as,well remember this is going to be part,of our sauce so,be generous with that look it looks,beautiful already so on top of this,block of feta we're going to add some,chili which i think is a great addition,so i'm going to add one chili pepper it,looks like that i'm not sure of the,variety but they're not too spicy,and thinly slice that,if you don't like heat try removing,these seeds,but i like heat so i'm keeping all those,just gonna add that to the top and then,i'm gonna add,three cloves of garlic,just smushing these,to get them out of their,paper jackets add that,to the tomatoes,if you have a really large clove,cut in,half so since i like garlic i'm going to,go ahead and add,four full cloves because garlic is,delicious,and on top of that,we're going to generously salt that,although the feta is salty,and now we're going to add some freshly,cracked pepper,and now we're going to pop this into a,preheated 400 degree oven for 15 minutes,and then we're going to broil it for an,additional 10 minutes to get a little,bit of crispy char on the tomatoes and,cheese alrighty my lovelies the pasta is,ready i'm going to drain it into a,colander,this is a pound of pasta i don't think,we'll be using all of it,but that is okay because,my kiddos especially love pasta right,there's our hot spaghetti now let me,grab the tomatoes and cheese,oh it smells so good,ah it looks fabulous look at,that the cheese is nice and broiled,tomatoes have a little char on them,they're nice and shriveled,now we're going to swirl this all up and,this is going to make our sauce oh That Viral Baked Feta Pasta Thing (Is Really Good, Actually) | Kenji's Cooking Show

hey everyone it's kenji um and today,we're gonna make that,tick tock famous baked uh tomato and,feta pasta,and i apologize because i actually,started it already and i realized,halfway through that my card needed to,be reformatted so i've already got the,tomatoes,and feta in the oven so if you haven't,seen this recipe i'm usually not one to,jump onto viral recipe trends but,this one actually seemed really legit,for a number of reasons which i'll get,into,but if you haven't seen that recipe it's,essentially you take what i've got here,which is uh cherry tomatoes a block of,feta cheese you need to use,greek sheep's milk feta because the,american stuff,then the domestic stuff is not creamy,enough it'll the sauce will kind of turn,gritty whereas the um the greek stuff,will stay nice and creamy and fatty,some cloves of garlic and then i've also,got a little bit of,flat iron pepper company chili flakes in,here um you can use whatever chili,flakes you want i,particularly like theirs because,these guys i particularly like these,guys because um,they blend um well they blend a number,different chilis they have a different,they've,many different flavors and they use very,fresh,flavorful peppers so a lot more flavor,than your standard chili flakes,anyhow some olive oil black pepper,that's it no salt because the feta has,plenty of salt in it,and then you throw it into a 400 degree,oven for about 40 minutes so that's been,going for about 30 now and it's going to,take about another 10 minutes,meanwhile i'm going to get a pot of,water going to boil some pasta,and then we just stir it all together,and it becomes this delicious pasta dish,um,the the reason why this recipe works so,well,um aside from you know just the obvious,flavor combination of garlic olive oil,tomatoes and feta is that it relies on,cherry tomatoes um,now you know regular it's not summer,right it's not the end of summer right,now it's not it's not cherry tomato,season it's not tomato season at all,um and generally i i would avoid using,tomatoes out of tomato season because,they generally don't have that much,flavor,and the reason for that is because in,order to,ship tomatoes they have to um pick them,when they're kind of under ripe,otherwise they kind of squash themselves,under their own weight while they're,shipping,so they get picked under ripe they get,artificially ripened,in transport with ethylene gas which is,i mean it's a naturally occurring gas,but they artificially add it,to make the tomatoes um turn red but,they lack flavor,and they lack juiciness so cherry,tomatoes on the other hand,and so the smaller the tomato the easier,it is to find good ones in the winter,and that's because of,a thing called the square cube law which,is that um,as things get larger their volume and,therefore their mass,will will grow in three dimensions,whereas their footprint only grows in,two dimensions,so their mass will cube um while their,um their area the area that's supporting,them will only,um double uh sorry not double we'll um,square world will square as opposed to,cube um and so what this means is that,the bigger things get,the more um pressure they're putting on,themselves so that's why like,animals have a limited size that's why,buildings have a limited size you can't,just scale things up infinitely,so likewise tomatoes when they're,smaller they have,a better ratio of support to mass,than a larger tomato so therefore,smaller the smaller tomato is the more,ripe it can get,before it's picked because it won't,squash itself under its own weight,um and so cherry tomatoes tend to be,much better than larger tomatoes in the,winter so cherry tomatoes,in the winter they can be just as good,as they are in the summer i mean,obviously not if you have like a cherry,tomato plant in your backyard and you're,picking up,picking it from the vine and it's still,warm like those are the best but,supermarket cherry tomatoes can be,really good um cherry tomatoes are also,higher in pectin than other types of,tomatoes,which is what makes sauces kind of um,thicker it's you know it's the the it's,the carbohydrate that also makes jams,and jellies thicker,but in the case of tomatoes um it makes,tomato sauces kind of thicker and cling,to your pasta better so cherry tomatoes,are a great,choice for making pasta sauces um out of,season if you don't want to use canned,tomatoes,so those are the reasons why i think,this recipe is going to work well it,does work very well,and as soon as this water comes to boil,um i'm actually,i'm just going to throw my pasta before,it even comes to boil i'm using my,my low water method of cooking pasta um,and i know i know i know i know because,every time i do this there's going to be,comments um saying you need to use a,gallon of pasta for a gallon of water,for every 100 grams of pasta or whatever,you know,whatever it is you need a large volume,of pasta um you don't,uh and i've tested this myself,in blind taste tests many many many,times with multiple testers,um h

- Baked Feta pasta has become a worldwide viral trend.,Here's why.,(upbeat music),Hey everybody, it's Natasha of NatashasKitchen.com.,Today, we're making a creamy baked feta pasta.,This is so easy, like ridiculously easy,and it's crazy delicious.,Here's our spin on the famous feta pasta.,We'll start with some quick prep.,I'm using eight ounces of asparagus,,trim off the ends and cut it into bite sized pieces.,Next peel and finely mince four garlic cloves.,I find that if you smash the garlic first,with the blunt side of your knife, it's much easier to peel.,You'll use half of the garlic for the pasta bake,and the other half you'll add later.,We're very serious about our garlic around here. (laughs),We love it, and it really makes this dish.,Make sure you preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit,and you'll need a nine by 13 casserole dish.,And I will link to the one I'm using in the notes.,You'll also need two pints of cherry or grape tomatoes.,It's about four cups of tomatoes.,Add your tomatoes to the casserole dish,,along with your prepared asparagus.,Here's a great tip.,If you prefer to add a protein to this pasta bake,,you can leave out the asparagus and replace it,with about a pound of chicken tenders instead.,Pour one third cup of extra virgin olive oil,over your veggies, along with half of your minced garlic.,Season that with a quarter teaspoon of salt,and half a teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper.,I do go light on the salt because the feta cheese,adds plenty of flavor.,Toss your veggies until they're coated with olive oil.,And this mixture already smells amazing.,Now create a space in the center,and place eight ounces of Feta cheese, right in the middle.,You can use crumbled feta,,but a block of Feta will give you creamier results.,Drizzle a tablespoon of extra Virgin olive oil,over your cheese alone with a sprinkle of black pepper.,Now bake that in the center of a preheated oven,at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes,until the tomatoes start to burst.,About halfway through the baking time,,I'll start cooking my pasta.,Bring a large pot of water to boil,,add a generous amount of salt,,along with eight to 10 ounces of pasta.,I'm using penne pasta.,You can use a variety of different pastas,but short pasta is like penne, rigatoni,,fusilli, cavatappi and similar ones work best.,Cook the pasta until al dente,according to the package instructions and make sure,to stir it a few times to prevent it from sticking.,This next part is super important.,Reserve half a cup of hot pasta water,,then drain the rest of your pasta.,(upbeat music),There's no need to rinse the pasta,because we want the sauce to stick to the noodles.,All right, our bake has been in the oven,for about 30 minutes.,You can see those tomatoes have bursted and gotten juicy,and it's time to take it out of the oven,and add our finishing touches.,(upbeat music),(laughs) Ooh!,I am getting so excited because it's so easy.,It's almost done.,So as soon as it comes out of the oven,,you wanna add the rest of that minced garlic,and about a quarter cup of finely chopped parsley.,You can also use basil if you want to,,but I always have parsley on hand.,You wanna add it while the mixture is still hot,,so then it kind of partially cooks,the garlic and the parsley.,Give that a quick stir and then mash up the cheese,and it forms the most delicious sauce.,You wanna just continue mashing that cheese,into the olive oil until it's well incorporated,and make sure, make sure you do not skimp on that olive oil,because it helps form the base of the sauce.,One of the things I love about that,,this is a cheese sauce and not a heavy cream sauce,is it reheats well, so it doesn't separate,and become buttery like creamy sauces do,,if you're lucky enough to have leftovers,because this disappears fast.,Aw look at that creamy, saucy and so good,and the pasta's going to soak up some of that cheesy sauce.,It is amazing.,I'm telling you, there's a reason this is so popular.,Try it and you'll fall in love.,And if you guys try different variations, let me know.,'cause I'm completely hooked on this pasta.,True story.,Okay. you know what we just haven't made,enough of recently pasta no we need to,make today,and not just any pasta no no this is the,pasta,where it was so popular that in finland,they ran out of feta cheese so obviously,we need to try that one but i feel like,i feel like one pasta is not enough,today it's a two pasta day and there's,another one that i've been meaning to,try out it's the one,that i saw gigi hadid had made it's like,a,spicy paneer vodka kind of vibes and it,also,looks phenomenal and so i was like,trying to decide which one we were going,to make and i was like you know what,let's just make both let's battle it out,pasta against pasta just see which one,is actually worth making and if you're,looking for more pasta recipes or you,know like recipes in general i will link,some out is one,that i actually found,on tik tok it's the viral baked feta,pasta but it actually originated,in finland a finnish blogger put this,one together and i believe it's,pronounced,unifetta pasta i will link her blog post,down below so you can go and check that,out and it's essentially a baked pasta,dish where you put together all these,ingredients all together it looks really,straightforward and easy to do and the,end result it looks super creamy and,delicious it's got some spice to it it's,got the tomatoes and basil and just like,i need it now so we're gonna start by,putting my,coffee mug down and we're gonna grab my,cast iron which is currently,in the oven but right here i'm gonna put,the glove on top of it,because i haven't not forgotten that i'd,put something in the oven and then tried,to touch it so again this recipe is,super straightforward there seem to be,minor variations that i've seen across a,couple of different people so i've put,together one that i feel like,kind of covers the basis and what i,would really like to eat so we're gonna,start with some,really delicious looking cherry tomatoes,i'm gonna be honest i kind of want to,eat them right now,they kind of blend into my shirt dump,those in,this sizzling then we're gonna drizzle,with some olive oil,no one seems to measure anything i'm for,that drizzle drizzle,a little bit more than drizzle that's,fine that one's mad at more olive oil,we're gonna be adding more in a minute,anyway mix these together,then you are going to take a whole brick,of feta,right in the middle got my brick the,feta and nestle it in here,whilst not touching the hot cast iron,that is looking,aesthetic now i'm going to sprinkle on,some minced garlic this was optional in,the original blog post but i really like,garlic so that's what we're going to do,sprinkle it over top,now i'm just trying to make it aesthetic,i just want to make it look like i'm,in the food network hand washing per,usual,also a good time to turn the oven back,on rachel setting that to 400 degrees,now we're going to sprinkle on some red,pepper flakes i am using this piri piri,blend you know,make a little bit spicy then we're going,to add some nice flaky salt,and then a little bit of fresh pepper,or a lot of fresh pepper i mean,like look at that look at that so now,i'm gonna stick this into the oven,10 minutes 400 degrees and then we're,going to broil it,while watching it it says for 10 minutes,but i'm be honest with my oven,we're doing three minutes okay in the,oven you go,please be delicious all right so now it,is freshly out of the oven,it sounds delicious so now i'm gonna put,it back in the oven,under broil and just kind of watch it i,don't trust my oven to do the full 10,minutes and the pasta is currently,cooking away i got some really fun pasta,which,you can't see so let's stick this back,in and put it all together,all right i have pulled this out of the,oven,tell me that doesn't look good wow look,at me,go so now we're gonna like mix it all,together to make it a nice source,line it all it smells incredible like a,nice like,just so that char on the tomatoes is,really coming through the creaminess,i just i'm so excited to put the pasta,in now this looks,okay i'm gonna be honest it doesn't look,super appealing but i know it's gonna,look really good once i added the pasta,and i bought like a,fancy looking one hang on it is called,riccioli,i believe that's how it's pronounced but,like look at it it looks,like a little i don't know a little,flower and i thought this would be,really good because you could like,get all the nooks and crannies filled,with this delicious sauce so,that's what we're gonna do so all we do,is just drop,drop that pasta right in there,get it well not all at once start
