Kevin and Mike, began developing the app in San,Francisco initially as bourbon but then, realized it was too similar to,Foursquare which led them to refocus its, function to photo sharing renaming it to,Instagram which means instant camera or,Telegram,on March 5 2010 Kevin closed a 500 000,seed funding round with Baseline,Ventures and Android scene Horowitz, which propelled the project into, completion allowing Mike to pose the, first ever Instagram post at South Beach,Harbor Pier 38 four months later,in this video we will look into the, history of Instagram and how Kevin,Systrom and Mike Krieger created the, next generation of social media, platforms, welcome to lifehack Academy,on this channel we study the habits and, routines of successful people,world-class performers and athletes, hoping to make better versions of,ourselves each day, before we get into it make sure to give, this video a thumbs up subscribe to this,Channel and click on the notification,Bell icon,Mike Krieger born March 4 1986 is a,brazilian-american entrepreneur and, software engineer who moved to,California in 2004 to study at Stanford,University where he met Kevin Systrom,Kevin born December 30 1983 is also an,American commuter programmer and, entrepreneur who officially became,Instagram's first CEO with Mike working,in the company as CTO Kevin came up with, the idea of creating bourbon while on a,vacation in Mexico with his girlfriend, who was unwilling to post her photos, because they didn't look good enough, taking pictures from the iPhone 4 camera, system thought that the solution to this, was to use filters to hide the, qualitative inferiority of photos, leading him to develop the x-pro 2,filter which is still being used on,Instagram today bourbon was designed by,Mike and Kevin as an HTML5 check-in,service that allowed users to check into, locations make plans in the future earn, points for hanging out with friends post, pictures and much more, after recalling their studies at the,Mayfield fellows program The Duo,realized that bourbon contained too many, features and was becoming more, complicated than ever before which was, what the users didn't want they decided,to get rid of a lot of features and trim,it down specifically to photo sharing, with the use of filters leading to its, rebranding as Instagram,a month after officially launching,Instagram it instantly exploded growing,up to 1 million users after a year and,10 million users in two years,as of April 2012 Instagram was being, downloaded more than one million times,in less than one day which caught the, attention of the giant social media, company Facebook, bought for over 1 billion dollars in,cash and stock Facebook acquired,Instagram on September 6 2012 just, before the company scheduled initial, public offering or IPO,Mark Zuckerberg told the users that,Facebook is committed to building and, growing Instagram independently allowing, system to continue to lead Instagram at,the same time granting him unlimited, resources from a juggernaut partnership, with Facebook,in an interview Kevin stated that,Instagram will be the future of sharing, and communication in today's social, media world, during the early days most of the, engineering and user experience were, developed by Krieger recalling that when,Instagram went down at 3 30 in the, morning he had to stressfully revive the, site in a completely drunken state,Instagram today has over 1 billion users, and contributes over 20 billion dollars,to meta platform's annual revenue a,crazy changed when it was bought by,Facebook for 1 billion dollars with only,13 employees,in 2014 Kevin Systrom was listed in the,Forbes 30 under 30 list under social and, mobile category and has an estimated net, worth of 1.3 billion dollars as of 2022.,Instagram has been able to help, businesses through the promotion of,commercial products and services and has, given birth to an entire new generation,of celebrities and influencers,so this was how Kevin and Mike modified, the next generation of social media, through bourbon are now called Instagram, hopefully you like this video and found, value in its content, don't forget to subscribe to my channel, turn the notifications on and I'll see,you on the next video

How Instagram made it big | Fortune
How Instagram made it big | Fortune
request and turn um good afternoon and, welcome back from your breakout sessions,if you're just coming in come up to the, front and for the next 20 minutes this, qualifies as the front um so I'm here, with Kevin Systrom and my first question, for you Kevin um in 2010 when you, launched Instagram did you ever believe, there'd be a day when the TSA got on and, started publishing photographs of cute, bomb sniffing dogs I am you know we were, talking backstage about the diversity of,accounts that have been created over the, last four years initially it was just, for me and my friends the reason why we,created Instagram was to be able to,share and communicate visually something,I care deeply about I interned at on a,company called OTO that became Twitter, and I never caught on with communicating, via text I'm not a big reader but I am a,big photographer and as we started we,thought it was just going to be about, people and a small side effect of giving, people usernames is that you could get, just about anyone on the platform and, today we were looking at the TSA account, which obviously isn't something I could, have predicted but even being able to,connect with a governmental agency, through Instagram is something that's,really special and I think a small use, case of the overall use case which is,just connecting to any and all interests, that you might have visually right and,the TSA I mean super interesting it's,like all like weird weapons that have, been uncovered and and what I'm curious, about when I look at that it's like what,do you think that a TSA would be trying,to do with a platform like that you know,I won't put myself in their shoes, specifically because I haven't lived, with our account long enough but overall,I think what people are trying to do is,communicate what they do most, efficiently whether you are you know a,reporter in North Korea trying to show, what you're reporting on whether you're,a magazine trying to cover hurricane, sandy or you're a company like Banana,Republic and you're trying to show your, new fall line I think it has, applications that are very universal in,general and the fact that it is a visual, medium I think allows you to communicate, whatever your goals might be and then, the TSA is you,a case it's probably about showing the, stuff that they're keeping from getting, onto planes and public transportation, sure that makes sense so so Instagram, right now your last reported numbers you, have 200 million plus users it's a very, engaged audience you know in the fall of,2010 when you guys launched at the time,of launch there were just a number of,photo sharing apps that launched um what,do you think it is about Instagram that, made it the absolute breakout success of,the crew when we launched it wasn't a,sure bet in fact when I told people that,I wanted to work on a photography app, everyone kind of looked at me like I was, crazy there's actually this infographic, out there that shows the size of exits,in video and the size of exits financial, exits in photos and the data points that, used at the time where basically YouTube, was the one data point on the video side, and then on the photo side you had like,a bunch of small ones like Flickr and a,handful of others they thought we were, crazy but the reason why we went after,it is because we felt like it could be,universal and the way we set ourselves, apart from the crowd was focusing on,problems so many entrepreneurs today our, technology in search of a problem not,the other way around and we were we were, looking at problems and then we decided, how to solve them so it was beauty all,the photos at that time taking on mobile, phones were pretty crappy right none of,us liked taking bad photos so how could,we improve those with filters the other, was speed we started uploading photos as,soon as you took the photo and we throw,it away if you know you don't decide to,upload it and post it but it meant that, the second you were done editing your, caption it was posted to the network and,the last one was really distribution at,that time you were using one app to post,to one network and this was the first, time ever you could take a photo and, post it to many networks all at once by,solving those three problems and being, problem centric I think we really were, able to tip the scale so you arrived at,a point where we had all recently gotten,iPhones within the past five years and, suddenly could take pictures from our, pockets and you allowed us to make good, picture, and it has struck me and we talked a lot, about it and you can read about it in,Fortune where Kevin is the cover boy a,good likeness right good likeness today, clap I heard a clap um today yeah yeah, for this conference only on the cover, for this Congress hey no it's good I,love it um so we talked a lot about the, nature of the evolution of the image as,we all can do so many things with images, now I mean we can we can essentially, make them talk for us right um where do,you think this is going well, people like to say that what happened,wa

I Made A Secret Instagram Page To Prove It’s Not Luck
I Made A Secret Instagram Page To Prove It’s Not Luck
over the last two months i've been able,to gain over 150 000 followers on a new, instagram brand in this video i'll be,revealing exactly how i got started with,it how i grew it and where the brand is,today for the culture let's get right, into it,june 17 2022 is the day that changed, everything for me i was alone in my crib, just smoking and thinking and you know, when you hide and you alone that's when, you really get to thinking i had this, feeling of guilt and anger heavy on my,chest but look it wasn't directed, towards anybody else you feel me it was, directed towards myself i felt like i,wasn't going hard enough and reaching my,full potential have you ever felt like, that like even if you have some success, even if you're doing good it's like man,i gotta go harder because this ain't it,i want more like i know y'all felt that, way before that's exactly how i was, feeling then at the same time everybody, was talking about a recession and i'm 22,right so i've never been in a recession, before ever since i've been grown so i,was like man i really gotta make a move,so i said for hours just thinking about, what i could do and then i saw an,opportunity i noticed everybody talking, about the recession on youtube i was, seeing video after video every day but, there was barely any information about,it on instagram and peep game i had even, went on my phone right i went on,instagram i typed in recession right, ain't no pages pop up so i was like yo,that's kind of weird because i've been,on instagram for years and they got, pages on anything you can think of so i,was like yo i'm here with a page that, nobody ever made before this could, either be really good or really bad so i,sat and thought about it for a couple, more hours then i was like man if it,ain't a bucket it i went ahead and, made the page i started the page off, with a clear goal in mind to put the, best information out there on the, recession and financial literacy and, that's exactly what i did the first day,i posted about nine times this on the, best content i could find and the people, felt it too because things took off, pretty quickly ah man you see it we just, hit a thousand followers in less than a,day on this page 20 hours ago is when i,made my first post i had zero followers,on this page and we got it to a thousand, followers in less than 24 hours it's,crazy man,yes sir yo so it's currently 9 48 p.m as,you can see right here we over,2500 followers within the first 24 hours,as you can see we started 22 hours ago,and we already had 2500 followers every, time i refresh the page the followers go,up man it's crazy to see this i think, this is my fastest growing page of all, time so far at that moment i knew i was,on this home because i had multiple, brands but none of them ever took off, like that but i kept my foot on the gas,and kept posting and by the time the, next day came around we had double the, followers currently the next morning 8,14 a.m was 8 15 now but yeah we over 5,000 followers on the page i got a new, logo for it i just went on fiverr and, ordered a 10 logo nothing too crazy but, yeah we started this page less than two, days ago everything legit as you can see,one day ago right there and the, followers are real like if i go to the, comments let me go to the comments real, quick you can see that people are, actually commenting you know i mean, these are real people let me go ahead, and like some more yeah i'm saying but, yeah these are real people getting, comments engagement as you can see i,posted this 29 minutes ago it's got 28,likes so yeah the people are commenting,as real people real page real engagement, all real everything yes sir that whole, day things just kept going up and up and,up yo so it's currently 1 30 in the, morning you know i mean and i just, wanted to show y'all the page real quick,so we currently over 10 000 followers in,just two days man this is my fastest, growing page of all time so far and it,just goes to show you that it is,possible to still grow on instagram in,2022 brand new page this page right here,i created my own lane with this page, like when i looked it up there was no,other pages talking about the recession,or anything like that so it just goes to,show you that you gotta focus on what's,popular in the moment like what's,trending and then sometimes you gotta, create your own lane try something, different but yeah that's the update on,the page we over ten thousand followers,in just two days yes sir not bad right i,had 10k followers in just two days from, starting this instagram brand after i,made that last clip i realized something, extremely important that changed my,whole perspective i wasn't just building, another instagram page to get followers,or to make money i was building a brand, and starting a real movement and i know,it seemed like a little small difference, but it really changes how you operate, things because peep game if you just, thinking like this is just another, instagram page or a side hustle that's,all it'll ever be but if you start, thinking bigge

Why Quitting Facebook And Instagram Made Me Happier
Why Quitting Facebook And Instagram Made Me Happier
I'm Christina Farr. I'm a technology
reporter with CNBC and in my job I use a,lot of social media, especially LinkedIn
and Twitter. But in my personal life, I,was all over Facebook and Instagram. It was just getting a little bit out of control.,So with everything going on in the news,
with Facebook and all these privacy, scandals, it was a ready top of mind for
me that I should take break. And I,approached my boyfriend about this in
the summer and we decided actually that,we would do it together. We deleted
Facebook and Instagram from our phones, and haven't logged in since. When I first
got off social media, I found myself just, going to browser's randomly throughout
the day and sometimes I would even just, type in the letter F, which was just
bizarre because I had no intention, really of ever being on Facebook. But it
was this this programmed behavior. But it,only really took me two weeks before I
found myself letting go of the urg, turn to social media during my downtime.
But we did have this weird moment on,social media when my boyfriend and I
were traveling the summer in Greece and,Turkey. So we went to this island called
Santorini, which is really beautiful and,it's famous for its sunsets. And around
has 6 or 7, we just saw thrones of,people kind of waiting to capture the
perfect selfie. They all had their, smartphones out and finally when the
sunset hit, I think we were sort of alone, and really just sort of enjoying it without needing to see it through it lens.,So without the pressure to craft
the perfect Instagram post, we ended up,taking a lot fewer photos on this
vacation and just being more present in,what we were doing. But there were a few
people that we wanted to connect with.,So we texted them a couple pictures and we just said thinking of you we missed you,and got back some really sweet responses. And then when we got home we took a,collection and we turned it into a photo
album just for us. For me, it was just a,really positive experience to take a
break from social media. When I would be,on Facebook and Instagram all the time, I
just would constantly see these amazing, vacation pictures and people getting
married and having babies and just, somehow doing all of that and excelling
in their careers and it just always felt, like I was falling behind. Without the
constant stream of updates about my,friends, I find myself feeling less
anxious about my own life. And I've,gotten better at just relaxing in those
moments where I would have been looking,at Instagram. So now I'll look out the
window, I'll make like eye, contacts and smile at someone. But social media sites haven't given up on me.,I've been getting just so many annoying emails from Facebook telling me,that some random person has liked some
other random person status and they've,been coming and I'm more frequently than longer I've been off. So I think it's,just coming across as a bit desperate.
However, there are a few drawbacks to,being off of these apps. One is that I
almost certainly missed a few events, just not seeing them on Facebook. And I
may have missed a few life moments from, people that I do care about but I'm just
not that close with anymore. But overall, this has just been a great break for me.
So good in fact that I might never get, back on Facebook or Instagram. But if I
did start using social media again, I,would make sure that I wasn't doing any
of this infinite scrolling behavior and, maybe just check once or twice a week.
Ultimately, I want to be in control of,how I use social media and I don't want
social media to control me.,you,you

I noticed a lot of people were asking, for experiences and it really got me,thinking about kind of this Instagram, era we kind of said oh well wouldn't it,be fun to get a bunch of artists and, creatives together and kind of do this, color experience color Factory is a,12,000 square foot color experience if,you've ever seen an installation like, the rain room or the infinity mirrored, room you know that social media can play,a huge role in how we experience and, interact with art now some creators are, flipping the script with a new category,of installations made for Instagram, these exhibits take the design language, structure of a traditional Art Museum, and add details like perfect lighting, colorful backdrops or interactive props, they're all translate really well to,photos on social media we can make a,beautiful photo that will do very well,on the internet but it was really, important to me that color factory was, more than that I kind of came down to,three characteristics that I wanted each, exhibit to have ideally one is I wanted,it to be something that you normally, didn't get to experience so whether, that's laying underneath you know 100,pounds of confetti falling down on you,or you know walking through a room full,of ribbons, the second characteristic is we wanted,it to have a concept behind it not to be,just a pretty picture but you know that, there was some thought and some meaning, and then the third characteristics is we,want it to be really photogenic so we,did want it to be make a really good,Instagram and there was a few decisions,we had to make like even with lighting, where maybe a warmer light would have, felt better to like be there but a wider, light looks better hunt Instagram so,what's the difference between a space, like this and say the rain room well, some would say there isn't one the way,we experience art today is in many ways, through our phones but others would draw,a distinction between an installation, where an artist has explored space light, and scale and mood in interesting ways, and something like the color factory or,the Museum of ice-cream which is,designed to be reproduced on Instagram,as much as it is meant to be enjoyed in,real life we're not a traditional Museum,I never I would never set out to me I,think that people come one gets stuck on,a title or a name you come and you have, this experience the museum lives on in,so many different verticals and ways and, were a brand,I kind of wanted to juxtapose what, people think is a traditional Museum and,put artifacts and paintings in and give, that kind of sense that you would expect, and then take you into something that's,far more imaginative if you look at,traditional museums they exhibit art, culture they bring people together for, specific meaning they celebrate design, they celebrate history all of those, things we as a company equally share, there's been this traditional sense of,you know the ropes and everything is,something that you stand and you're an,observer but you're not an active, participant the Museum of ice-cream,welcomes and celebrates the interaction,of our visitors with the art and, installations there's a question is this, art,I don't know I'm not gonna be the one to,say if it's art and we brought on a lot,of talented artists to work on this it's,interesting to see like I go to the SF,MoMA and everyone was just trying to get, instagrams you know like is that what, art is becoming is like what you're,experiencing and sending out into the, world I don't know I just think it's,interesting and that's the reality of,the world we live in right now I don't,think that social is what is driving, what the museum ice cream does I think, about how people feel like what is that, actual experience I design it not for, those little like uncleís or vignettes,if you will that is very much dictated,by our visitors that come and they be,able to create what are those moments, for themselves,we don't say hey this is your moment to,take a photograph I give everyone a,canvas and it is their opportunity to,make it one day well, whether you're in a space like the, museum ice cream or the Museum of Modern,Art you're going to find people looking,at exhibits through their thumbs the, question isn't necessarily is that okay,or whether social media has transformed,or produced art but what can you get out,of these spaces is it an experience that, makes us think and reflect and see the, world differently or is it an experience, that amounts to that little square photo, you post online,I'm really proud of it and what it,turned into and a lot of people are like, how are you making money from this and,I'm like like you know at our core we're,a bunch of artists and creatives and, that's we just want to create these, magical moments so hopefully you know, make as many people as happy as possible,I see Museum of ice cream 1 2 & 3 which, were sitting in three today as Vitas,I've always thought it was that I think, that people often experiment whether,it's in a lab or a different place in a,prototype
