hello everyone and welcome back to my,channel my name is Peter Barber I am,primarily a professional opera singer,music producer and of course a bass,vocalist today we are getting back to,one of the absolute favorites on the,channel this is so hyong,singing her song everyone and this is,probably the most recommended Soho so,young piece that I've looked at so I'm,very excited to see what she does she,has,Beyond blown me away in past videos that,I've watched of her and I'm always very,excited to listen and and try to break,down what she's doing vocally,um guys this is a reaction and Analysis,video so I will be pausing to analyze,especially her vocal technique other,musical aspects of the arrangement and,other artistic choices she makes but,mostly I focus on vocal techniques so hyong does on this piece,all right so so far just starting out,obviously a very intimate setting as far,as I can tell we have just you know very,light piano and a very light string,section Orchestra and we have Sohan,coming in on basically an um,like doing a little bit of very light,riffing,um her voice she's keeping a breathy,presence in her voice so not a lot of,tight vocal fold closure this is a very,nice way to start a piece in an intimate,setting and allow for contrast later and,when she puts in the the big high belts,the power belting and the vocal,fireworks that we're so used to hearing,from her,um so that's all we're getting here in,this first section it's a great place to,start,foreign,so I assume this is in Korean,um and again as we are progressing,through this first verse of this song,we're still getting light piano light,strings and she's taking this more,breathy intimate approach to her singing,but she is adding a little bit of,vibrato so we know that she's got a nice,consistent flow of air and a relaxed,vocal apparatus to allow for that sine,wave like vibrato meaning very,consistent vibrato,so he's doing a lot of very this is um a,style of attack with your phonation,phonation means your vocal folds are,coming together producing a pitch uh,musical theater modern musical theater,often and pop too really but especially,musical theater,it's very uh traditional and customary,to hit a note straight tone for a period,of time and then allow the vibrato to,come in later it kind of adds this,intensity and it keeps the actual,quality of the note changing as you,progress through a pitch as opposed to,just doing something and saying totally,stagnant so so young so so hyong uses,this in a lot of her vocal approach she,will start a pitch a sustained pitch off,straight tone and then she will allow,her vibrato to come in,foreign,like that chord progression,so now it gets exciting when you start,to hear start to move up into that high,chest range where she's,just such a Powerhouse vocalist,up to I think a B flat four so we're,nowhere near the top but you can already,tell as she ascends the vocal folds,start coming together much tighter,and less air is coming through this so,the sound goes from a breathy relaxed,sound to a much more efficient sound,that's really what's happening,foreign,up to an E flat five which,for sohyong not again still we're not,even into the extreme part of her range,this is very I would consider,comfortable for her still but belting an,E flat five in full chest voice is not,comfortable for most singers that's,actually a really high belt in chest,voice and she handles it so easily so,um,yeah nothing to nothing to scoff it,there I think singers like sohyung and,other other kind of freakish singers,like uh Glenn Miller for example bosso,profundo uh maybe Mason can throw a clip,of Glenn in here singing a low note,we start to think of we hear singers,like that and we get used to listening,to them that we think oh that's what a,bass sounds like or you know this is,what a pop singer sounds like when,really we are talking about the most,extreme examples of these kinds of,singers and so me as a bass I can't do,anything that Glenn Miller can do in his,low register his low chest range none of,it like I don't even have access to that,but I am still a base and he is a base,very different kinds of bases,um it's something I like to harp on,about when I'm mento

Russ is point five,years ago to this day was the first day,that we met true the funny thing is I,was going to university Wisconsin,basketball game and why give me ,along hormonal it was Elite Eight game,you'll see Wisconsin play we started,talking and sure enough was linked up,and you know I I told her that we were,gonna it looks you know and maybe meet,up and after the game and everything,else the game started at four we didn't,win the game Wisconsin is I was I was,fired up about that and she was watching,watching the game and the crazy thing is,is that maybe if you remember you told,me I was like you know round seven,o'clock I was like hey can we meet up,around 9:30 10:00 and you told me uh I,don't think it's gonna work little too,late no see later - see she cuz I also,go to dinner with some with some,business friends and stuff like that I,just go to dinner 7:30 and I was like so,what about 9:30 10 o'clock can we meet,up and and sure enough she was like I,don't know that's gonna work and I'm,like hold up if we're going to get,together the best time well you know,maybe the best the best time like it,will work out you know and something,sure enough I I told her that uh hold on,a second yeah wait a second so I told I,told the people that I was talking to at,the time you know the meeting with it,doesn't have a dinner with them business,there I told him hey listen I don't like,the wait let's have dinner at 10:30 ok,cool because there's another basketball,game as March Madness and I think,Kentucky or somebody was playing there,and so everybody went to stay watch that,anyway so I said how be I'll be I was,meet let's link up in 15 minutes and,sure enough we did and it was uh that,was it that was a wrap and then I,completely forgot about the dinner I,completely forgot about the 10:30 next,thing I know it was a 12 o'clock 12:30,and I was I was I was I was sold well we,we both forgot about the dinner actually,cuz cuz I told you also I got a woman,right yeah you were supposed to dinner,and then we were talking about eating,and stuff and then we I guess you could,say in a time of us talking we were just,talking for a long time and sometimes,when he was talking to me I'm not gonna,lie I was kind of hearing him but I,wasn't like the words he was saying to,me as l

uh-oh hold on guys wait a minute,hey guys all right we're back we're back,we're back we tried this earlier and,this did not go so well but it was not,in our control but I'm excited that we,get to get our chat going I want to stay,committed to women's Wednesday's yeah,house,I was in the house I gotta give some,shoutouts so women's Wednesday's as I,mentioned earlier this is for is a,chance for us women to connect from all,over the world in this crazy time that,we're living in and going through right,now being quarantined as it is a very,unique time and I I'm sure I when I say,this I say to everyone that this is,somewhat of an outer-body experience,being quarantined and having to live,like this like none of us expected this,how one second I gotta go close the door,people are talking about my background,I'll be right back guys okay this is,really alive as you guys see all right,um but like I was saying you know none,of us expected this moment to happen,that's happening but I think there's a,as challenging of a time it may seem,that we're all experiencing I think that,there is a lot of positives that are,happening in this moment on my spirit,has kind of felt the filling and thought,of how sometimes it's okay to slow down,sometimes we need to slow down right,this world is moving so fast and I feel,like it's gonna always be moving pretty,fast especially now with technology but,the positives are like being able to be,home with my kids more than I normally,get to you that is a treat for me and,then also at my honey,more than normal too because he you know,will be coming up with his schedule on,his schedule he'll begin to OTA soon and,then once it happens he's dialed in and,then the kids would have been in school,and it just would have been like you,know the usual which sometimes less time,is spent with each other so I think that,there's a lot of positives that are,happening from this time that we're,living in I think the greatest thing of,all that stands out is love that you,know it's a chance for us it's a chance,for our love to go greater you know in,these situations and it's kind of one,thing that we can stand on that is,reliable whether it's worth our family,the facetimes bye,I'm facetiming with my girl is more than,often me and Yoli you guys know you're,like my makeup artist my best friend,since I was 16 years old and also wallah,we've been facetiming every day so it's,a treat you know basically women's,Wednesday's as I set you guys I think,it's a chance for us the community of,women to come together and chat and the,thing for me is that I love I am a girl,that loves girl talks like I love like,when I go to the hair shop and get my,hair done or if I'm getting my nails,done that we chat like us girls we're,just chatty catty and we love talking,about everything from like life to love,to challenges to even friendships like,just all kind of things that's just the,nature of a woman and so I thought I'd,be cool start doing this thing called,woman's Wednesday's where I get to chat,with you all and especially women from,all over the world to hear like any,questions you may have any thoughts you,may have any stories you may have,anything that we can all relate to,because we all go through some of the,same things we just have our way of our,stories to tell about we have different,stories to tell about those same things,whether its life whether it's love,whether it's relationships whether it's,I said that love relationship same thing,where this love or this business,friendships we all come some of the same,things as women and so it's fun to be,able to talk about those things and then,obviously being pregnant there's a lot,of fun talks about that so this is gonna,be a fun time woman's Wednesday's I'm,gonna do my best to stay committed to,these Wednesday's for us to chat and,just talk about life and I kind of I'm,gonna start today off with like three,topics that I was kind of feeling and,vibing on during the time of quarantine,and those three things that I had were,all right one are you getting tired of,your spouse right now while you're in,quarantine I would love to hear what you,guys are
