things have been really good,um,we've been,it's been fantastic with fresh and lean,because,you know i was training for the tour and,we'll get into that a little bit and,then you know covet hit,and um when we move to wyoming,uh what's great about freshlyn is not,only is the the food great and i can,pick and choose what it is,that is right for what i'm doing for,whether it's training a weight training,i might add proteins or right now i've,omitted a lot of that i'm going more,vegan,uh is that you guys can get to me,wherever i am,like you guys get it to me up in wyoming,so i'm not like you know up there stuck,in this void of not being able to have,healthy food every day because as as you,know um athletes or musicians or actors,we have to eat multiple times a day,uh to keep our energy up and you know,the old thing is like you know i'm gonna,lose weight so i'm just gonna live on,salad that,that that never really works so um being,able to just like go to the refrigerator,pop in one of the meals,you know,supplement it with a protein shake along,the day and keep my energy up um you,know as,you know i was telling you the other day,on the phone,um is directly impactful to even like me,writing a book or,working on an album or having the energy,to keep up with the two-year-olds so,that's why i really wanted to you know,talk to you about this because i don't,think people take a lot of people don't,take food seriously they're like i'm,hungry,you know i eat whether i'm hungry or not,sometimes that's a bad thing,but general you know i eat whether i'm,hungry or not because i have to keep,fuel,in the tank or this car so i can make it,around the race track,and you look great it's definitely,working for you and i haven't seen you,in person in years now and fortunately,you know our mutual great friend fred,corey who does all of our music and as,our sonic branding composer refreshingly,reconnected us,and we're here now getting to talk to,you so can we dip into the book a little,bit while i have you and then we're,going to talk some nutrition where it,talks in business,um because you're kind of an apex,predator out there of all these things,so you know the book is i remember,the day i changed my name,i was adamant about,cutting the cord to the past,i mean really,who is frank veronica,i,was just 21 years old i was in los,angeles california and i walked out of,the courthouse and i was like i'm,leaving,my father i'm leaving frankfurana that,pain,that suffering that abandonment behind,i am now nikki sixx,i was a small town boy,with,big dreams i was raised by my,grandparents and i was taught that you,work hard and you don't complain but for,some reason in my brain i kept going,back to,the anger,you know where i lived in,in twin falls idaho we lived out on,farmland,i had time to,to dream,and i have music,my mom had let me know,that my dad was,alcoholic,and a womanizer and a drug addict and he,was a bad guy you shut the door and you,think i don't want nothing to do with,those people those experiences and even,though at the time it looked like,reckless abandon i did have a dream,it wasn't until i heard jimmy dean's big,bad john,that was the first,moment,where,i knew there was something out there,more than just a song on the radio,something was drawing me somewhere else,away from the small town and i think it,changed my life forever,i got these ideas i'm going to combine,punk and glam and heavy metal and you,know once i started flying i forgot how,to stop,and then one day,you get curious,what's behind the door and i was sitting,with my uh aunt and uncle,they said i,don't think i ever saw your dad,even have a beer nikki,and i'm like but my mom said he was an,alcoholic,and that he was a bad guy and they were,like frank was a,wonderful guy who's super creative,i have elements of my dad in me and it's,um it's wonderful to feel those good,feelings,who the hell is frank ferrano he's a,small town boy with big ideas,he,was willing to take chances that were,probably,not the best ideas but you have to go,for it and you have to do anything in,your power to make your dreams come true,this book,is really about,the past and how it fits with where,we're at today,people are funny,they asked me,if now that i've,rediscovered my childhood if i'm going,to quit playing rock and roll,i'm going to play rock and roll till the,day i die

hello,is,oh,and after what was probably the intro,that woke you and your neighbors up let,me just say welcome back to another,video and today it's another episode of,white noise and we're going to be,exploring the photography of nikki sixx,who is mostly known for being the,bassist for the american rock band mothy,crew now i'm a big fan of monthly crew,i'm gonna try not to be partial about it,but i do have to say that we're gonna,rock and roll our way through the video,because i have a lot to talk about and,in specific things that we can learn,through the photography of nikki's six,so they can be inspiring to our own,photography to our own growth as,photographers if you're new here and you,don't know what i'm what this show is,about basically it's a show about,musicians they're also photographers and,in each episode we have explore the,different,works of a specific person and basically,we try to learn with them the most that,we can so yeah without further ado grab,yourself a drink make yourself,comfortable and let's go straight to,another video,and while a lot of us might have not,known about nikki six's connection to,photography since we're probably,familiar with his name because of his,career as a musician the truth is that,he's been doing it since the 80s and he,commented on an interview when we were,coming up in the early 80s and it was,all pretty crazy i have all that stuff,on film everything from shooting up to,people passed out on the floor i got it,all,and whilst researching about nikki 6 and,this other side of him as a photographer,i read about his idea of instant,gratification,and he said when i started photographing,i had a 35 mil camera and i would just,snap pictures all the time of what was,happening on a road and backstage being,a kid from jerome idaho shooting a,sunset in australia was amazing just,basically shooting and documenting my,life was instant gratification i'd get,the film back and start to think of,things i could do differently and,gradually i got more into the idea of,not just snapping a picture and as i,read this idea of gratification,i kind of immediately connected to it,because i do feel a lot of gratitude for,photography in a sense that i feel,grateful for,the places that i get to see the people,that i get to meet um,what i get to capture and really the,images as well and all the memories,attached to them i think this is very,important to feel grateful about this,and i think a lot of us go about our,lives and forget to be grateful for,these little things for these,experiences,and i think this is very important,because it will keep us,focused centered and kind of humble,enough to be able to progress with our,journey whether that is as a,professional photographer as,um kind of like someone who does it as a,hobby or as just an artist whatever we,do if we incorporate photography into,our art and we deal with other medias,but anyway i wanted to say this because,i also feel that it's very important to,as a photographer feel grateful for our,biggest mistakes our biggest,achievements and everything we get to,experience in the way as we photograph,and as we kind of like develop our style,or what we love to do,and if you have time i'd like to do just,a small little well just a little note,about uh the like a camera blog where,nikki was interviewed um a couple of,times and he does talk about the stories,behind his photos it's really,interesting to see how he met these,people and how he developed a sort of,like,connection with them and,what he photographed them why photograph,them and i think it's really really,interesting and it gives you a bit more,context to just this video and just,these images even though i'm gonna be,talking about some of the wise and some,of his intentions but yeah keep an eye,out for it,and according to nikki sixx it's about,capturing moments that really impacted,him and when we talk about impact nikki,sixx dealt with addiction for many years,of his life however despite the fact,that he is now recovered these years of,addiction have had a profound impact in,his life and one of my favorite things,to learn about his photography was how,he uses his experience to look for,subjects and themes whilst doing street,photography and one of six's recurring,subjects seems to be precisely people,dwelling with addiction and according to,the photographer he photographs them to,document life and to create awareness,for very serious issues such as,addiction,and looking at six's example it fits,like a glove for when we talk about,forming a style and finding what we're,looking for with our photography because,nikki 6 is the perfect example that,teaches us that this search,for our style and for what we're looking,for more often than not starts within,ourselves and the things that impacted,us the most and how they affect the way,we see the world and what subjects we,want to capture,and now on a short note but What "The Dirt" Got WRONG About Nikki Sixx And Bass!
okay,so I just finished up watching the dirt,and basic review I give it a about a/c,it's basically a glorified vh1,rockumentary type of thing like the DEF,LEPPARD ones and stuff with a I guess a,little bit better budget you know it was,fun but definitely a ton of cheese and I,feel I could have been a little gritty,or just in my opinion but let's not,nitpick a little bit of the base stuff,in the video so what I noticed first off,and my big complaint about the overall,performance from the actor and some of,the research into it is the way he's,handling the bass especially the right,hand in a lot of scenes dude is playing,all the way up by the neck almost on the,fingerboard and some parts is even,full-on strumming the bass like he's,about to break into an acoustic song or,something which unless you're doing a,biopic on Lemmy or something you're not,really gonna see this out of a bassist,and it's kind of surprising especially,since I saw that the entire band,including Nicki were parked producers or,had some input into the movie so I'm,kind of surprised something like that,would get that badly research especially,since with Nicki's technique and if,you've ever watched him his hand is,always locked at the exact opposite,always backed by the bridge so much so,that on some of his bases he's had a,metal ring attached just underneath the,bridge where he hooks his pinky finger,underneath of it I think he calls it an,optic Reb where he locks his hand down,that hard on it and plays all the way,back there so to have the actor,literally on the opposite end strumming,the bass parts out like again like he's,playing an acoustic or something that's,just some bad research and that's a big,fail on my in my opinion at least and my,other big complaint would be about the,bass itself and by that one I mean the,one he had during the,at the devil here of being a bc rich,warlock now the model they gave him is a,bc rich warlock but it's pretty,different from the model he actually,played and the model but they gave him,in the movie didn't exist for at least,twenty years after he stopped playing it,so it's distinctly different from the,one that he had a lot of times you can,get away with something like this but I,feel like especially in Nicky's case,this is a big problem because he was,known for that base it was so distinct,to him bc rich got tons of orders,because of him distinctly wanting that,model with exactly those specs so much,so that people still to this day call it,the nikki sixx warlock when they want,that specific configuration and layout,that specific headstock the type of,controls that were on it so it's a,really iconic instrument attached to him,at that specific period and they gave,him something that really couldn't have,been further away from it as far as bc,riches offerings not to mention that the,headstock that's on that base wasn't,offered on any of their instruments at,that time period it wasn't even invented,until I think another 15 18 years after,so that's a pretty bad piece on research,and I don't know to me it's like the,base version of doing a movie about BB,King and not having him playing the,iconic lucile that he's known for,so again just bad research and I feel,like kind of a big cop-out especially,when there are other bc rich bases that,are much closer to what he actually,played during that era that they could,have picked it's just lazy now my last,quick pitch is actually not gonna be,about the base it's just gonna be,something i've noticed in a ton of,documentaries about music and i cannot,understand why this one keeps getting,overlooked in the studio you see vince,neil singing into a condenser mic with,no pop filter which doesn't get done,ever the irony being the sound crew,capturing this dialogue in this scene I,can guarantee we're all,using the proper windscreen equipment on,all of their microphones and to make it,just that much worse at the end in the,end credits they show a side-by-side of,the footage of the Vince Neil scene and,footage that they're imitating with him,singing in the studio and you can,clearly see the pop filter on the mic so,again just laziness and if you make a,movie about musicians and you know a ton,of musicians are gonna be watching this,type of just lazy research and stuff,I've been around film crews in Los,Angeles and I know some of the people,who do research and things like that and,they go over these things with a,fine-tooth comb making sure everything,is excruciatingly ly period-specific,down to the last detail what should be,on that screen and making it look as,accurate as possible so this just really,reeks of laziness and kind of,half-assing the movie and it's too bad,because it might have made it that much,better or made some of the pretty cheesy,parts and a little easier to swallow had,everything been really super accurate,but there you go my nip it on the bass,stuff in the dirt check it out it's,worth a watch and just try not to be too,offended by the complete lack of,resea
