this was a really interesting one for me,because i had to get out of my own damn,way first i had to,put my judgment and my,um,kind of previous bias to the side,because,my first sentencing when i saw madonna's,photographs i'm talking about madonna's,um photographs that she's uploaded twice,now but the latest time she uploaded,them was around 18 hours ago at the time,that i'm recording this video,so,um when i first saw the pictures i was,like oh,why are you doing that if you haven't,seen them head over to instagram if you,just type in madonna to your search bar,you'll find her find her account and,find her pictures and madonna's 63 years,old there,and she's posted some quite raunchy,bedroom pictures with the caption or the,original caption was angel watching over,me or something like that and in there,she's revealing different parts of her,body like there's she's wearing fishnet,stockings in one and both bum cheeks are,showing um one another one she's lying,on her bed and previously,one of her nipples had been showing now,instagram then removed,the post,saying that because her nipple was,showing,um,it had violated the the the nudity rules,right so,first and foremost i had to kind of,because i'm,47 madonna's 63 i remember i grew up,with madonna like she was like the the,the artist that we all looked up to as,as young women and young girls,so i had to kind of put my oh my god,what is she doing you don't have to show,your bum to be,you know relevant what and i had to take,all that judgment,away because that's my judgment on what,i would deem acceptable not acceptable,at my age,nothing to do with her so i had to get,on my way a little bit being honest,and then i had to think about okay so,is the issue her age,i don't know a lot of the comments are,very negative about you know,you belong in the last decade in the,last century you don't need to keep,doing this is the issue her nipple,showing,so here's my take on this,first and foremost,nipple showing,now why is a woman's nipple sexual and a,man's nipple not i have an issue with,that okay,secondly you can show pretty much every,single other part of your body,and it's not deemed sexual like there's,girls on instagram with like both bum,cheeks out and that's okay but one,nipple not okay so we need to have a,look at this as a society and say you,know can we actually say that that one,part of a woman's body i mean and the,part of the woman's body that actually,you know nurtures life is sexual but,other parts of the body isn't we need to,address that as a society but let's go,to the appropriateness of her post and,here's my viewpoint on this,it is nobody's damn business truly,if a woman wants to express herself if,she's not hurting any other woman if,she's not hurting anybody else in life,she is allowed to express herself in any,way she chooses truly we we,you know i put a post on,a few days on my instagram i mean like,she has like 40 million i have like 10,000 or something you know it's not quite,the same but i put a post on my,instagram a few days ago about showing,my signs of aging because,what is deemed acceptable in terms of,aging i'm nearly 50 years old i have,lines under my eyes i have you know,nasolabial folds i have lines on my neck,because i'm nearly 50. that's what women,look like but is it any less beautiful,are we are we saying that women are no,longer allowed to be beautiful when they,get to a certain age is there a sell-by,date for beauty,once you hit 40 are you no longer,considered to be a beautiful woman and i,have an issue with that a because i'm,over 40 but but b more more importantly,because are we teaching,are we teaching young girls that we have,to have a quest for eternal youth,and that youth is the only standard of,beauty not cool that's number one number,two is,who are we,to judge,how another woman expresses herself,expresses her beauty expresses her,reaction to,to life and she's she's had a a kind of,a dig at america on thanksgiving and the,message that it sends out and calling it,lies but who are we to judge whether,or not,you,are entitled to express yourself if i,want to you know,parade round in a bikini at 40 47 is,that okay,if i want to cover myself in not a big,fan of fur that's not what i'm saying,but if i do,is it okay,who gets to decide,these things who gets to decide this is,okay this is not okay,because as far as i'm concerned as long,as you accept yourself as long i mean,one of the biggest,issues i have in coaching or because i,coach women all day every day is the,concept that you have to love yourself,you have to accept yourself flaws and,alls i call it flawsome so you're flawed,but you're awesome but you have to,accept yourself flaws and all,and not just the good bits not just the,bits that are that society deems,acceptable you have to accept all of who,you are your quirks your idiosyncrasies,your weirdnesses,in order to really,have a sense of self-worth and achieve,what you want to in your life and now,achieving it is another story

madonna decided that she was going to,test the limits of instagram's nudity,policy and they did not care for it she,ended up reposting the images but,censored this time and slammed instagram,in the caption for removing her original,post in the caption madonna writes i'm,reposting photographs instagram took,down without warning or notification the,reason they gave my management that does,not handle my account was that a small,portion of my nipple was exposed it is,still astounding to me that we live in a,culture that allows every inch of a,woman's body to be shown except a nipple,as if that is the only part of a woman's,anatomy that could be sexualized the,nipple that nourishes the baby can a,man's nipple be experienced as erotic,and what about a woman's which is never,censored anywhere giving thanks that i,have managed to maintain my sanity,through four decades of censorship,sexism ageism and misogyny perfectly,timed the lines we have been raised to,believe about the pilgrims peacefully,breaking bread with the native american,indians when they landed on plymouth,rock god bless america ambos blue,checkmark celebs in the comments section,praised madonna for speaking out against,this instagram censorship but some other,fans of hers were not as pleased one,user writes let's talk about ageism and,photoshopping the age away though i'm,not saying don't do this i'm just saying,keep it real photoshop to look 40 years,younger but posting about ageism doesn't,really seem legit to me with another,adding all the things going on in the,world and you're mad that instagram,removed your nipple pick i am so over,celebs and your bs the photos show the,singer in a variety of provocative poses,while wearing fish and stockings in a,bedroom and a spokesperson for meta,instagram's parent company told the,press that whenever a photo breaks one,of their rules they remove it regardless,of who posted it later saying in a,statement to cnn we take down content,that breaks our rules whenever we find,it no matter who posts it while we,understand not everyone will always,agree with where we draw the line our,rules are designed to help keep everyone,of all ages safe on our apps while,giving space for as much expression as,possible which was something else i saw,a lot of in the comments many people,were telling madonna that if she wanted,to post images like that there are,platforms that exist like only fans for,example according to instagram's rules,that are publicly available they say,that they restrict this type of content,because some people may be sensitive to,it although they do claim that their,rules have become more nuanced and go on,to say we understand that nudity can be,shared for a variety of reasons,including as a form of protest to raise,awareness about a cause or for,educational or medical reasons where,such intent is clear we make allowances,for the content for example while we,restrict some images of female breasts,that include the nipple we allow other,images including those depicting acts of,protest women actively engaged in,breastfeeding and photos of post,mastectomy scarring for images depicting,visible genitalia or these in the,context of birth and afterbirth moments,or health related situations we include,a warning label so that people are aware,that the content may be sensitive we,also allow photographs of paintings,sculptures and other art that depicts,nude figures even with the rules clearly,outlined madonna like most people,probably never cared to read them nor do,i even think she cares that they exist,it's madonna so i'm sure that she's,going to be coming back and trying to,push the limits of social media again,it's also worth noting that instagram's,previous reasoning for having such a,strict no nipple policy was that apple,would remove them from the app store,that being said twitter has also allowed,pretty much anything and everything on,their platform and yet they remain on,the app store so who knows the real,reason why they took this stance but for,now that's all the time that we have for,you today stay classy and i'll see you,on the next one,it's
