Cinematic Vertical Video with your Phone - Instagram Stories, TikTok etc
in this video i'm going to show you how,you can shoot some amazingly smooth, vertical video shots with your iphone or,other smartphone, whether you're shooting for instagram, stories or tick tock or snapchat, these tips will help you make shots that, really stand out without using a gimbal,or any other extra gear so let's go,ahead and get started with the basics on,how to move, with your phone,so i'm going to show you my basic, technique here for how i keep my shot, smooth when i shoot with my iphone, the first thing to keep in mind is the, body mechanics, because the way your body moves is going,to determine how smooth the shot, actually is,so the way i grip my phone is like this, when i'm shooting vertically usually and, sometimes i'll stabilize it with my,other hand like this,or in some other way like this or this, and also,i try to position myself so that when i,move with my phone,i'm not moving backwards and i'm not, moving sideways,i try to be walking straight ahead even,if,i'm not pointing the phone straight, ahead that's part of what's going to,make this look cinematic,is the fact that the phone is facing one, way, and i'm moving another way i'll show you, what i mean,so first of all let's open up the camera, app stabilization works best,on the native camera app so that's what,we're using here first thing to do,is position my phone sort of how i want,it okay so that's basically my shot of,the waterfall there, and now i'm going to set my exposure, tapping on the brightest part of my shot, there we go ae af lock by tapping on the, brightest part of the shot,i engage the hdr of the camera in other, words it's going to sort of,equalize out all the rest of the, exposure as long as it knows, what it should set as the bright part of,the shot,so feet straight forward phone to the, side, facing my subject arm is sort of like, like this,at a 90 degree angle second arm is here,to stabilize in case i need it,and i'm just gonna sort of smoothly walk, forward as if i was using a gimbal, same kind of ninja walk three two one, rolling camera, and let's shoot a little 10 second shot, here we go,tiny baby steps, whenever i stop moving i slowly drift to,a stop with my body, imagine it's sort of like a hockey puck,or something slowly drifting,to a stop on the ice that's how smooth, you want the end of your shot to be,when you're shooting with a phone you do,want to take into consideration the, lighting just like you would with any, photography or cinematography,so in this case i'm trying to shoot into, the backlight here,i want the sun to be behind the subject,i'm pointing the phone toward the sun,as much as possible and that's because, the iphone, has built-in hdr so it has really high, dynamic range, built in and it can handle this kind of,light just fine, and i find backlight on the phone to be,much more beautiful, than front light as you see here, all the leaves here are just bouncing, the light back at the camera which makes,it look very flat, whereas when i shoot into the backlight, you get the translucency, the light is shining through the leaves, instead so i'll go ahead, and try a quick little walking shot, going down this path here, you can make your shots look more, dynamic if the phone is moving through,an object in the foreground so i'm,angling up so you see the sun in the, shot,i'm just gonna push in and take a few, very careful steps forward, when i do close-up shots with my iphone,i lock my focus, and my exposure on the subject just like, that, because that keeps the background out of,focus even if the subject is not in the, frame,so see if i move the lantern out of the, frame, then i move it back in the frame it,doesn't shift, the focus to the background if i didn't,do that watch what happens when the, lantern goes out of the frame, then the camera focuses on the, background not cool,if you happen to have a waterproof phone, like i do then you can use that in your, shot so what i'm going to do here,is i'm going to turn my phone upside, down so that the camera is at the bottom, instead of at the top, upside down and i'm going to just do,sort of a crane move,so i'm going to hold it like this and,i'm going to drop it,slowly and then all the way, into the water,if you're looking for a little variety,in your shots you can do a tilt up from, your feet,as you walk that's an easy one to do,anywhere that you happen to be walking, around,so what i do is i just grip the phone, like this use my other hand to stabilize, and i point it down at my feet like this, and then use the wide angle lens this is,going to be the wide lens, and as i walk forward i just slowly, smoothly tilt up,using both hands to stabilize the phone, just going to demonstrate one more, technique here and this is adding a bit,of roll,to the shot so all i'm going to do is,hold the phone like this, two hands and roll it a bit as i walk, which will be a cool sort of corkscrew, effect,so those are a few quick tips for, shooting vertical video with your phone, hope you found them useful,if you enjoyed this please check out the, link in the

Get Instagram To Stop Cropping Your Vertical Images
Get Instagram To Stop Cropping Your Vertical Images
hi folks is anyone else confused about, how to best crop and size your images, for Instagram well stick around I'll,give you some tips that work for me the, current reality is that Instagram is,where people post a lot of images so I,thought I'd share a couple tips for at,least making them look as good as,possible in reality you can upload any, size image you want but if an image is,too large it will be downsized rather, than having Instagram do the downsizing,I prefer to downsize and sharpen images, myself in Photoshop using the TK web, sharpener images must also fit within a,four by five vertical aspect ratio I,don't know about you but this often, ruins my vertical images here are the, main things to know when sizing for,Instagram the images you see in the feet, are all 600 pixels wide and the height, changes depending on if the image is,horizontal square or vertical but you,can reverse pinch images to enlarge them, and see more detail so you don't want to,size images to 600 pixels wide the, maximum size the Instagram saves is 1080,pixels wide so that's what you want to,size to any larger than that and,Instagram will downsize for horizontal,or square images all you need to do is,size to 1080 pixels wide and you're good,to go,it gets tricky with vertical images they, can still be 1080 pixels wide but the, maximum height is only 1,350 pixels tall,1080 by 1350 is a 4 by 5 aspect ratio, but virtually every serious digital, camera uses a two by three aspect ratio, this means that no matter what your, vertical images get cropped and since I,don't compose 4 by 5 cropping almost, always ruins my composition and cuts out, important image content so here's what I,do with vertical images in Photoshop I,set the crop tool to a 4 by 5 ratio, then I cropped the image to be four by,five, finally I sized the cropped image to be,1080 pixels wide which automatically, makes it the maximum 1350 pixels tall, then I go back to the original image, and crop it to four by five again but, this time keeping all of the height this, creates extra canvas for the width now I,size this four by five version to be,1080 pixels wide with some white borders,on the sides on Instagram I post both, versions together so that the first, image creates a square thumbnail in my,grid and it fits the full space and the, feed but when you swipe to the second, version of the image you can see the, full two by three aspect ratio as it was, intended to be seen note that these, sizes just apply to the images you post,in your grid story images are completely, different their maximum dimensions are,1080 pixels wide by 1920 pixels tall, which is a 9 by 16 aspect ratio so for, best viewing in your story you'll need,to create a completely different sized, and cropped version thanks Instagram so,that's how I quickly prep my images to,work best on Instagram to recap as of,2019 all images should be sized to 1080,pixels wide horizontal and square images, can be sized without any cropping at all, vertical images need to be cropped to,the 4 by 5 ratio and then size to 1080,pixels wide I don't like the size, limitations and cropping along with a,bunch of other things on Instagram but,it is what it is and in the end no one's,forcing us to be on Instagram despite, all the stuff I don't like I still use,it along with a billion of the rest of,you so clearly they feel like they're,doing something right anyway I hope that, helps out a bit good luck with the gram, and I'll see you again soon, you

How to Create Vertical Videos with iMovie, Keynote, QuickTime for Mac
How to Create Vertical Videos with iMovie, Keynote, QuickTime for Mac
hey it's Mike and in this video I'm,going to show you how to edit great, quality vertical videos for your social, media channels using iMovie keynote and,QuickTime Player for the Mac if you want,to make a bigger impact with your social, media videos you should really be,considering making your videos more, native to the social media platforms, that you're uploading them to so for, example if you want to stand out on,mobile first social media platforms like,Instagram stories IG TV snapchat tik-tok,or byte then you should really consider, creating vertical or portrait videos, with a 9 by 16 aspect ratio vertical, videos just make better use of the space,on those platforms now recording, vertical video is easy enough using just, your smartphone but what do you do when,it comes to editing well there are a,number of mobile apps for editing, vertical video you can even use pro, level editing software like Adobe,Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro 10 but in,this video I'm going to show you how to,create great quality vertical videos for, your social media using just iMovie, keynote and QuickTime Player free, applications that come with every Mac at,least at the time of this recording, let's jump in okay we're gonna start the, vertical video editing process on my Mac,here in iMovie now I'm running Mac OS,Catalina ten point fifteen point two and,iMovie ten point one point fourteen for, your reference and as you can see here,in the media browser I have a few video, clips I recorded these clips with my,iPhone in portrait orientation now if,you're wondering how I got these clips, into iMovie on my Mac I just airdrop, them from my iPhone onto my Mac and then, just drag and drop them into iMovie, alright to start editing I'm going to,drag this first clip here into the, timeline now looking at the preview, window you can see my video is there and,it's got the vertical orientation but,the orientation of my iMovie project the, preview window here is still landscape,or horizontal, which creates all this empty black space,in the frame these black bars around the, content now this is happening because,iMovie projects are locked to a,landscape or horizontal orientation you, can't change the dimensions of your,iMovie project like you can in Premiere,Pro or Final Cut Pro 10 so if the iMovie, project is locked into this horizontal,or landscape orientation how are we,going to make our final video vertical, for social media, well I'll show you how but before I get,to that step I'm gonna edit together my,video in the timeline here so I'm gonna, pause this screen recording and come, back when I'm done, alright I'm back and I've edited, together my video clips and I've added, some music as well let's just have a,quick look and a listen to this do you, want to make a bigger impact with the, videos that you're uploading to social, media, well consider making those videos more, native to the social media platforms, that you're uploading to do you want, your video to stand out on mobile first, platforms like Instagram stories IG TV,snapchat byte or tick tock well to,maximize the video experience on those, platforms you should be creating, vertical or portrait video with a 9 by,16 aspect ratio so I'm going to show you,how to do that I'm going to show you how,to take the vertical video that you've,shot with your smartphone and turn it,into a high quality edited vertical, video masterpiece using free software, that comes with every Mac let's jump in,alright I'm happy with this edit but I'd,like to add a couple of things I want to,add a lower third graphic to identify me,near the beginning of the video and I'd,also like to add a graphic over here, where I'm talking about the different, social media platforms that use vertical, video so to create both of those, graphics I'm going to jump over to Apple, keynote, okay so here we are in keynote, this is keynote nine point two point one,and to create the graphics for my,vertical video I'm going to create a new, project by going to the top menu and, selecting file new when it take the, default selection of wide orientation, with the black theme we're gonna change, this in a moment so I'll just go down, and select choose and our blank project, opens up I'm just gonna reduce the size,of the view by going up to the zoom, controls here and adjusting the view so,I can see my slide better and I'll just, get rid of this default text by,selecting on it and hitting the Delete, key alright the next thing I'm going to,do is change the orientation of my,keynote project from landscape or,horizontal to vertical so I'll just go,up to the top right menu of the keynote, interface and select document then I'll,go down to these slide size and from the, drop down menu I'll select custom slide, size and I get this dialog up here at,the top where I can change the, resolution of my project and my slides,so right now it's set to 1920 by 1080,which gives us the familiar landscape, orientation I'm going to reverse these, numbers, and then just hit okay and now my,project and slides are portrait or,verti

How to Export High Quality Instagram Stories in Premiere Pro (Vertical or Horizontal Video)
How to Export High Quality Instagram Stories in Premiere Pro (Vertical or Horizontal Video)
- Hey guys my name is Matt Johnson, and today I want to show you how to create, high quality, vertical
videos for Instagram stories, using Adobe Premiere Pro.,And to save you time
I've created a free set,of presets for Premiere Pro,that you can download down
in the video description,,that are going to enable
you to edit and export, your video at the precise resolution, that is required for Instagram stories.,Heck you can download those presets, and you don't even need to
watch the rest of this video.,But I'd like you to watch,so stay tuned if you want to.,Welcome to Adobe Premiere Pro.,The first thing that we need to do,is we need to create a
new sequence that matches, the exact resolution and
frame-rate as an Instagram story.,So let's open up the new
sequence dialogue box.,You can either press Ctrl in on PC,,or Cmd in on a Mac and
that's gonna open up,the new sequence dialogue here.,The preset that you wanna
choose is DSLR 1080p30,,and then go up to settings.,We need to talk about what
resolution are Instagram stories.,If you upload an Instagram story, and then download the video file,,which I uploaded this story as a clip, that I filmed in 4K resolution
at 24 frames per second,,you'll see that Instagram
is playing your videos,at 30 frames per second,,with a resolution of 480x852,and at a bitrate of around
three megabits per second.,Because Instagram's
compression and resolution, for stories is so, generally awful,,in all of my testing I
found that it is important,to get to your video frame rate, bitrate,,and resolution as close as
possible to how it will look, whenever it is actually
playing on Instagram.,So that way the app and
site don't have to compress, your footage as much.,Yes that means that even
if you shot your video,at a different frame rate like
24 or 60 frames per second,,I would still export it
at 30 frames per second.,On Instagram, it's
gonna convert your video,to this frame rate
regardless so don't worry,,it should still look okay.,Next go down to frame size,
and we're gonna change, the horizontal frame size to 480,and the vertical frame size to 852.,All of the rest of these
settings can be left the same, and you can go down to click save preset.,We're gonna save our presets so that way,you do not need to go back through, and re-enter all this information, every single time that you do this.,Let's name this preset IG Stories Vertical,480x852 29.97fps.,Hit OK, you'll notice here under custom, that the preset has now been saved, and you can select it here
under the custom folder, anytime that you need to
re-create this sequence again.,Let's go down here to the sequence name, and we're gonna call this Instagram Story,,whatever you wanna call
it, that sounds great.,Hit OK next you're gonna
import your footage,as you can see I've
already imported a clip, that I shot with my drone last week,,in 4K in Colorado and
we're gonna drag that down, here to the time line.,Immediately we're gonna get
a Clip Mismatch Warning.,You're gonna wanna make
sure that you click, keep existing settings
because you do not want to,resize the sequence to
the size of the clip.,We want to resize the clip
to the size of the sequence.,So keep existing settings.,The clip has now been imported, and as you can see there
are huge black bars,at the top and the bottom of the clip.,That is okay, you could actually
export your video right now,and upload it to your Instagram stories,if you want to have it be wide.,But that doesn't really look very good.,Come on now we want it
to fill the whole screen.,So let's make some changes to it.,I'm going to select the clip down here, and then I'm gonna go
up to Effect Controls,in the top left and that's gonna open up,the video effect controls for this clip.,Do not worry there are only three things, you need to pay attention to here.,First is the position,
you have this number,240 and if you click
and drag left and right,,you'll see that that's gonna
move your clip left and right.,Press Ctrl+Z to go back.,Next we have 426 which is
your vertical movement,,up and down so you can reposition, your video clip using these two numbers.,Let's bring that back to the middle there,by pressing Ctrl+Z.,Next we have scale and
scale is very important, because that is gonna make
our video larger or smaller.,You'll see because it's a 4K video,,it's only 12.5% in size.,We can make it significantly larger.,I'd say about 40 and that's going to fill, the entire window.,Now I can go back up here to the position, for horizontal positioning
and I can move this around,,I kind of want the mountain peek up here,to be in the center yeah that
looks pretty good like that.,I think this looks really good now,and it's about ready to export.,Incidentally though if you decide,,"Wait Matt, I want people
to have to turn their phones,"to the side and I want
to be fully wide screen.",Okay you can do that too.,Let's set all these setting back,to the way that they were.,To 240, 426, 12.5,,and then were gonna go down here,to rotation and were
gonna rotate this vid

2 Ways To Stop Instagram From Cropping Vertical Photos
2 Ways To Stop Instagram From Cropping Vertical Photos
now obviously uploading a photo to,instagram is pretty straightforward but,the problem is when you're uploading a,vertical photo, instagram ends up cropping the image, taking away some of the edges of your, photo so the big question becomes how,can you fit a vertical photo onto, instagram without having to crop it well,in this video i want to share two easy, ways to do just that using photoshop as,well as a free tool you can use on your, computer,or your mobile device so let's get, started, hello friends my name is brendan from,bewellcreative.com and, when i post photos on instagram i hate, the fact that it crops them so much and,i'm sure you do too which is why you're,watching this video so i want to share, two, really easy ways to fix this problem the, first way requires that you actually, have photoshop so if that's going to be,a problem for you then just skip ahead,to this time code down below, and that's when we'll be talking all, about that free app for your desktop or,mobile device that you can do the exact, same process with, now to start things off we're going to,talk all about photoshop and creating a,perfect instagram crop,as well as resizing your images to make, sure that everything fits into one frame,so let's hop in the program and get, started now the most important thing to,do in this process is to actually create,a new document so here,in the starting screen i'm going to go,press create new,now what i want to do is set a new, document with a width and height of 4000,by 5000 so that we have a vertical, orientation, the resolution in this example i'll set,to 175,and i'll leave everything else you see, here as is now if you want to use, this exact preset multiple times you can, save this new document dimension,as a preset to use later on so we can do,that just by typing in a new name here,i'll call this,ig crop size, and then i'll press on this little icon, right here now for the actual name that,we'll see, here in our panel i'll call this once, again to ig,crop and go save preset now i can, quickly access those exact same crop, dimensions, whenever i'm going to create a new, document just by going to the save tab,and then going to ig crop now as you can,see i already have one created so i'm,just going to press the trash can icon,on this one so i only have the one, preset available, anyways once all of your dimensions are, looking good and you've created your, preset if you're into that kind of thing, then just press create now we have a 4x5,image which,is going to be the exact same dimensions,as what a vertical post on instagram,is so now let's go and bring our photo, into this canvas i'll go up to,file and down here to open and then go,and access the photo i want to import, now my photo has just opened in,photoshop so i'll just press v,to access my move tool and then click, and drag it over into my ig,crop project now as you can see the, image is obviously quite cropped because, this whole area is not being included, and same with this area,so we can just click and drag on the, corners of our transform box to,reposition this image,to fit within our photo now personally i,don't really like having these white, borders here so i want to fill, everything out in order to fill, everything out without getting rid of,too much of the top and bottom of your, photo you're gonna have to do a little, bit of distorting you can easily do that, with the move tool just by holding the, shift key on your keyboard, now i can click and drag out, horizontally or i can stretch things, vertically as well so just by playing, around with this you can stretch out, your photo,in different directions until you, basically, fill out all of this additional area, like so,now if you go too crazy with this your, image might look a little bit stretched, out and it's not going to look super, good especially if you're working with, like a portrait and you're close up to,someone's face, this is going to look a little bit funny,so if that's happening to you all you, have to do is hold the shift key,and then click and drag up just slightly, and it's going to,make those distortions feel a little bit, less noticeable so now we still have a,little bit of a crop on either end of,our photo, but it's significantly less than what we,started with,so with this all done i'll press the, check mark to commit to that and then, now we can go and save this photo as a,jpeg to put onto instagram so i'll go up,to file, then to save as i'll just leave it set,to ig crop size you can rename this to,whatever you like, the important part however is that we,put the format to jpeg, and then we'll go and click save make, sure that the quality is set to 12 and, then we'll press,ok to export that photo now you can go,and add that photo to your phone via, dropbox google drive or airdrop and then, upload it to instagram, and it will have the perfect crop, dimensions that you're looking for so,now that you know how to do this process,in photoshop, let's talk about our second example, using canva now canva is a,free app that you can use on your

John Krasinski & Michael Kelly Answer the Web's Most Searched Questions | WIRED
I'm John Krasinski and I'm Michael Kelly, and this is the wired auto complete, interview, pull it together we haven't even gotten, the intro out oh I'm sorry okay,do you want to take more time, how many movies has John Krasinski, directed technically I've directed five, movies the fifth one is a movie called,if that I just finished directing a few, weeks ago so I can't even believe I'm,vertical I'm not I'm in a chair but uh,close enough uh yeah it would be five, movies thanks for asking Michael yeah my,pleasure you should know that as a,friend of mine, what did John Krasinski do in free guy, played a small voice Ryan Reynolds asked,me to do a voice in the movie on my,phone I was a guy that looked like he,was in the witness protection program, and I believed made an inappropriate, comment uh in a sexual innuendo as they, call it you should see the movie I did,see the movie I did not know yeah how, about that you don't know anything about, look at that I thought we were I should,I should do more Googling where was John,Krasinski a waiter anywhere that would, have me I was fired from nine different, jobs while pursuing acting but not just, waiting jobs oh no it wasn't just the, restaurant business that said no I,worked at a yoga studio I was a illegal, real estate agent still being followed,by lawyers about that and what else did,I do I was a uh a casting associate, where I read with other actors in the, room how was John Krasinski and Shrek, who was John Krasinski and Shrek oh boy,um didn't know you'd be teaching him, reading I'm reading upside down yeah, that's not true right it up is that I'm,like this man I played sir Lancelot in,Shrek which is really the only thing, that makes me cool in my house as of now, because my kids otherwise thought I was,an accountant because my wife was in,Mary Poppins which was a little bit of a,cheap shot to bring that into a kid's,space my kids can't see anything that,I'm in except for Shrek so there we are, yeah John Krasinski favorite Office, episode wow that's a hard question to,answer I would have to say my favorite,Office episode was diversity day it was, technically the second episode but it,was the first episode of our own meaning, the pilot was a direct copy of the,British show the whole script was the, exact pilot of the British show so,diversity day was our first episode that, was ours and ours alone and I will never, forget that because being in that room,Not only was I the most unprofessional, actor because I laughed at every single, thing that happened and I totally, through the being in a documentary out,the window I was like no I'm gonna laugh,at everything all these people do but I,remember feeling in the room and looking, around all these people who didn't think, anyone was going to watch the show and,we still didn't think anyone would watch, the show but I said this is going to be,one of the funniest things that's ever, been recorded on television too bad no,one will see it because who knows where, this show goes and I went back to,waiting tables true story after we shot, the first four episodes I was like best, thing I've ever done no one will see it,uh and I signed up to wait tables again, the hardest I've ever laughed in my life,is the Christmas episode where Steve, pretends to be Santa and asks Brian,Baumgartner who played Kevin to sit on,his lap and as soon as Steve said what, would you like little boy and he lost, all the air in his body when Brian sat,on him I've never laughed harder in my,life and if you're a fan of the show you, know that they used to just swing pan to,gym for a reaction and I looked over to,the cameraman I said don't even try it I,will not be here and so every time he,swings to uh it was an empty room I just, wasn't there I just told him I will not,be here I'm not professional and I'll be,here on the floor laughing my ass off,and we didn't can John Krasinski ice, skate I can ice skate thank you for, asking poorly but I can do it growing up,in Boston it was very cold so there's,very few things to do when it's that, cold so ice skating was was definitely,on the docket did you ever in a in a,anything on camera,I did my first commercial ever actually, yeah weird maybe that's my question oh,okay I think it was the first commercial,I ever acted in was it Dunkin Donut spot, where you were a fan that won a fantasy, with the Boston Bruins and so I got to,skate with the Bruins and I skated out,on the ice and was supposedly supposed,to be checked by one of the Bruins, players we did about 20 or 30 takes and,it was always funny but not funny enough, because it didn't look like he really, hit me and I said on this last one, really hit me and it's the one they use,he kicked me six feet off the ice and my,skates come into the frame and I landed, and my knee wasn't right for about six, years so thanks Dunkin Donuts you'll be,hearing from my lawyer, let me see if I can read this upside, down does Michael Kelly speak Spanish,no no no no no no no I had to learn it,I had to learn it for Jack Ryan and I,did not spea

8 Tips for Creating Vertical Videos
8 Tips for Creating Vertical Videos
what's up guys landon here from the,full-time filmmaker team and in this, video i'm going to be giving you my top, eight tips for shooting, vertical videos now this is kind of a,topic that would have been weird to talk,about,10 years ago but lately vertical video, has produced some of the main aspect, ratios that people use to consume, content actually 75 of people who use, social media on their phones are, watching videos in vertical mode so if,you want your content to be more mobile, friendly you'll need to start shooting, vertically now there are pros and cons,to shooting vertically and i'm,definitely not saying that you need to,completely switch to vertical video, but i think a healthy mix of both, vertical and horizontal filming will, help, elevate your content and get it seen by,more people now the reason that i shoot, vertically when i'm creating content for, social media,is mainly because that taller aspect, ratio takes up more real estate on your, phone screen which means that people, scrolling on instagram or facebook, are much more likely to stop it also, creates a more immersive experience and, there are tons of creative editing, tricks that you can add in order to,utilize all of that vertical space which,i'll get to,later so now that you understand why, vertical video is important, let's jump into our eight tips number, one is camera orientation now in order,to get the most out of your camera, sensor you'll want to be shooting with,it sideways now before i realized this,i was just shooting horizontally like i,normally would then cropping the outside, edges, and obviously this works but you're,taking a huge hit in quality by doing it,this way now let's say you're watching a,vertical video on instagram at full, resolution that video is going to be,1080 pixels wide, and 1920 pixels tall giving you a 9 by,16,aspect ratio which is just the reverse,of your standard 16 by 9 aspect ratio, that most tvs and computer screens use,so again to make sure you're using, all of those pixels that your camera, sensor has to offer flip it sideways and, intentionally shoot, vertically tip number two is handheld, shooting equipment now the first piece,of equipment that i recommend if you're,planning on shooting handheld,is a battery grip if your camera already, has one great you're good to go but i do,think a battery grip helps vertical, shooting feel so much more natural, without that placing your right hand on,top of the camera and doing the movement, feels a little bit awkward you can, definitely get used to it,but for long periods of shooting having,a more natural grip will help keep your, footage stable and allow you to shoot, for longer periods of time, and if you have the budget a camera cage, like this one can also come in handy,i've rigged mine to have mounting points,on all four sides of the cage so i can, just slide these handles off, rotate the camera 90 degrees and then, slide them back on now while handheld, shooting is great i mainly only use it,for b-roll sequences or when i'm,shooting fitness stuff or other types of,videos that would look good, handheld one of the main challenges of,vertical shooting is dealing with that, slimmer field of view when you shoot, horizontally it's quite a bit easier to,keep your subject in the frame because, you have so much space going from left,to right, both vertical your subject could take, one step and immediately be out of the, frame so for this reason it's,significantly harder to track subjects, when shooting handheld so i recommend, using a gimbal or other type of,stabilizer this brings us to tip number, three stabilized shooting equipment now, whether you prefer a glidecam a,motorized gimbal like the ronin-s,a shoulder rig or even just a tripod, you'll need one piece of equipment, and that's the l bracket what this thing, does is it attaches to the bottom of,your camera like any normal mounting, plate, but because it's shaped like the letter,l it wraps around and gives you a bunch,of other mounting points on the side of,your camera so you can attach another, normal mounting plate and then slide it,on pretty much any stabilizer if you, have a cage for your camera, chances are there's already some, mounting points on the side so you won't,need the l bracket either way we've gone, ahead and thrown together a new kit, specifically for vertical shooting where,we give you a ton of our recommendations, for gear to help you out so you can find, that in the description below our fourth, tip is following moving, subjects now we've already illustrated, how vertical video gives you that, slimmer field of view which makes it a,bit more challenging to track your, subjects but here are three tricks you,can use to make it just a little bit, easier the first one is to practice your, camera movement over and over again now, most shots that i get while i'm shooting, are not,one take wonders most of the time it,takes at least three tries to get the, right one,a huge aspect in tracking your subjects, vertical or horizontal is muscle, memory repeating the same motion

Vertical Anamorphic for Instagram Stories | Android Update
check check check hello hello hello, hello what is up everyone so I have some, pretty exciting news,we now have anamorphic d squeezed for, both photo and video in our Android app,so before we dive into this video all, you're gonna do is you're gonna mount, your lens on your phone you are gonna, see it looking squeezed in the image but, then you're gonna see you right here, lens selection toggle that hit, anamorphic you'll see addy squeeze, preview in the app and you will also see,the outputted photo or video D squeezed,as well we know this feature has been a,long time coming so thank you for your, patience and persistence we want to make, the Android app as amazing as we,possibly can we have a bunch of features, lined up this was one that you guys, definitely asked for definitely wanted,so we are stoked that we finally have it,alright so everyone knows that our, anamorphic lens looks amazing for photos, and videos when you shoot the, traditional way which is horizontal you,get that cinematic aspect ratio and, those yummy flares but as anamorphic, lenses are becoming more mainstream and, used by more and more people we are, seeing more and more ways to utilize, this lens vertical video in general has, taken the whole film industry by storm, there are some that are completely, disgusted at the idea while others are, fully embracing it you see this with, filmmakers such as Jesse driftwood who's,completely taken on a vertical format, but you also see this in a lot of music, videos the latest being a music video, featuring Billy Eilish so what we are, talking about today is not just shooting, vertical but shooting vertical, anamorphic with both photos and videos, for IG stories I first saw this done by,Sam Scheffer he posted a tweet of a,vertical anamorphic photo at a,basketball game and I remember just, thinking huh but after seeing that photo,I've tried it out a couple times, shooting vertical Hannah morphic and I,have to say I think it's pretty dope you, still get everything you love about an,anamorphic, lenz just rotated so think of it as like,a mini small vertical panoramic photo, the aspect ratio of your phones in this, case we're using a pixel three is a four,by three image so for IG stories you, actually have to crop in to fill that 9,by 16 frame which then means you're,gonna lose the size of your image but, with anamorphic you actually get like a,two point three by five point four image, which in slot sends that 9 by 16 format,on Instagram story is super well you can,use an app like in shot or after light, which basically puts that white border, around so if you want to crop in your, your vertical photo or video and you can, have a little border around it or you,can just scale in to fill the whole, frame it's important to note that when, you're scaling in you will lose a little, bit of that top and bottom image but all,in all what you get is a photo that is,much more suited for Instagram stories, there's just tons of content options in,2019 I feel like we're just inundated, with so much stuff and it's very very, hard as a creator to stand out but this,is just one of those ways that you can, make your content look a little, different works for both photo and, videos and if anything else even if,you're like hey that's kind of wack it's,just another way to shoot it's another, creative muscle to exercise we've had a,ton of fun shooting vertical with the, anamorphic we think it's awesome and, yeah thanks for being here thanks for, subscribing thanks for being a part of,the moment journey and we'll see you, guys the next one peace vertical, anamorphic
