as ambassadors for creativity.,To the contrary, school teachers are typically
presented as stuck-up academics concerned, only with making sure their students keep
their noses firmly rooted in their textbooks.,Sure, there are probably some teachers who
live up to this tired old Hollywood trope,,but the reality is that most of them want
to nourish the imaginations of their students.,This is something Isabel May can personally
confirm.,When May started sixth grade, her teacher
was quick to pick up on her creativity.,In fact, she was so impressed by her new student’s
penchant for the arts that she suggested that, she take drama classes.,After consulting with her parents, the young
May decided to do just that.,And the rest, as they say, is history.,9.,Three Years A Reject,Source: https://images.app.goo.gl/NN3KoQmndGy1hGk17
Picture: https://images.app.goo.gl/tX4dnBKZTtRBJGfe7,Despite her striking good looks and obvious
acting chops, Isabel May struggled to find, work when she first began her career.,And when we say struggled, boy oh boy, do
we mean she struggled.,May wasn’t just unsuccessful in one or two
screen tests as she tried to find her footing.,No, she was unsuccessful in a full three year’s
worth of auditions.,That’s right, for three straight years,
the budding actress tried out for roles only,to be rejected time and time again.,Such repeated rejection would cause even the
most determined performer to reconsider their, career path, but Isabel May was steadfast
in her self-belief.,Unwilling to walk away from her dream, she
kept pushing forward and attending auditions, until finally, in 2018, producers at Netflix
recognized her talent and gave her the starring, role in Alexa & Katie.,The success of the series prompted a landslide

Picture: https://images.app.goo.gl/dMoTkkGmt7tfdd4t6,Isabel May’s career has been defined by
her unwavering self-belief, a quality she,has in droves even by Hollywood actress standards.,In fact, you could make the argument that
the only people who believe in May’s talents, more than she does are her parents.,Much like her sixth grade teacher, Isabel’s
parents knew their daughter had the potential,to be a star and were willing to do whatever
it took to get her to the top of the industry.,That isn’t to say they were pushy, far from
it.,But they were always there to cover the costs
of her acting classes or to drive her to one,of her many auditions.,Even when it looked as though their daughter
was doomed to a career of failed auditions,,the future-star’s parents never lost faith
in her.,In fact, they doubled down and pulled her
out of school in tenth grade so she could, focus on her career in show business.,Some people might view this as a pretty drastic
measure, but you can’t argue with results.,And May’s parents sure did get results.,Just six months into her homeschooling, she
had her first successful audition.,Don’t you hate it when your parents are

Isabel May ('1883') 'She refused to apologize for doing what she felt was right' | GOLD DERBY
i'm tony ruiz contributing editor at,gold derby here with isabelle may who, plays elsa on 1883,and and isabel you know when i when i,watch the show you know so much of elsa,is in her physicality she you know the,the physicality of this character is,written into her so i want to know how, much did you go into in terms of trying,to prepare to portray that from just a,physical point of view,oh goodness um,yeah quite a bit i mean, you know first of all you have to think, how did a young woman conduct herself at,that time um different era different set,of rules and and not only that but you, know the environment that she was raised,in she originates or they originate from, tennessee, and so i always envisioned that, she grew up in this you know, very small town had communicated with, very few people and there and and, interacted with very few people, therefore sort of had the ability to be,a little more wild, especially with a father like hers that, kind of encouraged her to be able to do,things on her own which was very rare, for a woman especially a young one at,that time,to get that kind of encouragement,um so despite that early on it was, important to me that you know be clear, that her posture she's very straight and, poised and, and, yet just despite that fact despite the, fact that she you know has her arms, behind her back and um and is conducting, herself properly, that this is going to deteriorate over, time so no matter you know i each, episode i kind of made sure to make a,note of um,okay so it's been, three months she's here now she's been,on this horse for this long she's been, able to,you know play with the boys and and kind,of,um,uh detach herself from these rules and, these restrictions that she was always, operating under uh so it's really really, important um it's interesting i think, the reason i almost feel flabbergasted,by the question or something is because,i've never been asked it so i appreciate,it it's a great question but yeah and, then you know on a horse,um it's rather uncomfortable writing, worse the corset on,and so the moment that i got to take, that off,as much as i i was so relieved by it and,i thought okay,i want to see this start to happen to,her a little bit um,when you're uh when you ride horses, anyway they're you have to your core has,to be really stable and you can tell, when someone is a horseback rider when, they're not just by their posture they, have to look comfortable so,yeah i took, quite a quite a lot of thought into, you know, every nook and cranny of her to be,honest, maybe too much, well and and you know you've talked a,lot about you know taylor shirt and the, creator of the show has this cowboy camp, and and,was was all that new experience or did,you have experience on horseback before,or was it even anything close to,what you experienced in the camp,i'm anticipating the answer um,no i had had no prior experience, therefore the moment that i knew that i,had to be on a horse,i i texted taylor and i said i do have, someone out here in california because,he's in texas i need to have my my,butt on a horse's back right away um,because i wanted to know what that felt, like, and,uh and i did it almost every day i drove,to from los angeles to,santa clarita,it was almost two hour drive um i would, wake up at 4 30 or 5 in the morning to,drive up there and work with her um,because it would be so hot in the middle,of the day and up there it's unbearable,to eat,and um her as in the stock coordinator's,wife, her name is deidre rodriguez,a fascinating woman um,tough as nails and she has two little, boys,um and there and so i you know i had to,watch her you know trying to train,me as well as be a mother and a parent, and which was there was something really,i don't know i thoroughly enjoyed it and,i've kind of fallen in love with that, family but also sort of gave me this i,always felt like i was preparing in a,sense,um you know elsa has a little brother,um her own mother,it was it was a strange, really really pleasant experience, but yeah that was that was part of it,for sure, well and and, what i find so interesting about this, show is that i don't think the show has,the power that it does unless that, family dynamic is believable and when i,spoke to,uh tim and faith a couple of weeks ago,um they were kind of taken aback they, both told me how they were trying to,take in the back like the first time, they met you,um they were like oh my god you know you,you look like their middle daughter i,think,i think they they pointed out um how did,you work with them in terms of building, that kind of family relationship, yeah um well they came i had been in,texas doing i did it i did pre-cowboy,camp and then cowboy camp as well on top,um,so i sort of i don't know settled into, what it was we were preparing to do they, came a couple of days before the end of,cowboy camp, and um and i immediately just felt,i mean faith's one of the warmest people, just, that i've ever met and and a goofball, and kind in sweden so she just kind of,welcomed me in with open

Faith Hill & Isabel May Interview: 1883
Faith Hill & Isabel May Interview: 1883
hello ladies how are you hello how are,you your name is so beautiful, thank you thank you well your name is,also beautiful but you know i think that, you know that,i'm really loving 1883 so far especially, just having these two very strong yet, very different interpretations of you, know what it means to be a woman in this, time period can you both talk about the, somewhat strained and yet very rich, dynamic between margaret and elsa do you, want to start faith,oh sure the strained uh,i i think the, because we,you know, elsa is 17.,and you are right yeah, right you're 17. my daughter, when we uh,we leave tennessee and take this take on,this journey across the the frontier and,and to,the unknown,um,i think the rub, from a mom to a daughter it's like the, the, letting go,um,letting go of the protection that you, know i've probably had my arms around, her, before we've left the, safety and the things that we know,um,in tennessee into this world where she, just becomes like i know her spirit as,her mom,i because we,you know as a mom you do know your, children and even though they may think, you don't know them,we do know them we know, what's inside and then when you get into,a place like um,you know the the wild the open space the, wide open space texas and and and the, areas that we are traveling montana all, these places and the things that's just, the freedom where there's no judgment, because you're you know there aren't,neighbors so forth and so on,that's,the struggle for me is trying to reign, that back in knowing full well that, that's inside of her and, having the ability,to uh figure out how far do i allow her,to go how how far do i reign her back in,while at the same time james my husband, who's played by tim,is like, her like their best friends you know her, champion like allows her to go and do,all these things and teaches her and, trust her and believes her and knows, that she's capable,so,and i know she's capable too but it's,just a,yeah it's it's kind of a it's an,extraordinary it really is an,extraordinary tale of uh daughter well i,think it's interesting is is,um who elsa is in the story when it,begins it's reflective of what uh,margaret was,on point um they were both free spirits, you kind of discover that about margaret, but she understands the reality of,a woman's life and what what, else's life will become, like in the future and so i think elsa, feels like she's on a leash with her, mother and it's it's her mother trying,to do her good and trying to actually, help her and aid her,um and with her father there's this kind,of free reign that she she gets um,and so yeah that's their dynamic in the, beginning at least but it's really, beautiful the trajectory yeah what what, becomes, wonderful,um just as dutton ancestors did either,of you look at kelly reilly in,yellowstone or any of the dutton members, for inspiration,no,no,no we really didn't i mean i look at uh,uh,kelly as inspiration from my own life,oh my goodness so amazing that's one of,my favorite female characters yeah, honestly,i think that's just like an american, favorite now i feel like everyone's,always like jesus and which is funny, because she's not american, thank you thank you both so much you are, also incredible and i cannot wait for, america to witness you, thank you,you

Soft Flakes with Isabel May | Bio Sculpture Tutorial
Soft Flakes with Isabel May | Bio Sculpture Tutorial
hey lovelies isabelle here from izbelmae, nails instagram and youtube so i,am so excited to be sharing with you a,bi,sculpture tutorial using the essence, glitter coloured, soft flakes so i'm gonna be showing you,a few designs, and comparisons between these beautiful, new essence soft flakes, comparing them to harder flakes as well, showing you them over a couple of,different colors and how they completely, transform so if you want to see all that, then just keep watching,so here are the three beautiful essence, glitter, flakes this is sugared lilac, which is a beautiful purple iridescent, this one here,is candy pink which is a beautiful pink, iridescent and then, this one here is bubblegum blue which is,a blue iridescent and they all kind of,reflect, slightly different colors i just thought,i'd show you some, hard flakes so you can get a little bit,of an idea of the difference,so these are some hard flakes so when, you put these into gel they normally, stick out, they're quite rigid and tough they don't,encapsulate quite as easily as soft, flakes do,and they're quite yeah they're just very, hard and slightly more difficult to,encapsulate and you normally end up with,a little bit sticking up,so if you see in here the flakes are a,lot more, soft and they really almost melt into, gel, rather than stick out of it they're so,beautiful to work with,so let's first off i'll show you them, over a couple of different colors so you,can see how beautiful they are, what i've done on this wheel is apply, one coat of evo by sculpture gel, polishes,i've got whitney and daniela as the, white and the black and then i've got, tiffany, stella and kylie here as the three, colors and i'm gonna put all three of,the different flakes on top, dabbing them into the tacky layer just,to show how beautiful they are and how, they transform over different bases too,so let's,add the flakes,so,and what i do just to finish off make, sure they've stuck really well,is just burnish the flakes into the, tacky layer so i'm using that same brush, and just rubbing over the surface to,smooth out the flakes, and this is what i mean by soft flakes, they completely smooth in,and lay completely flat so when you top, coat you don't have, any bits of flakes sticking out which is,really nice it keeps the nails, nice and thin and looking beautiful, and you could definitely put these, flakes over any color you wanted, and you can see it completely transforms,it and what i would do is just, double top coat to make sure they're all, nicely sealed in and that is one way you,can apply, the flakes with a super beautiful finish, let's move on to a couple of designs,so for the first design i'm going to use, candy pink and i'm actually going to,leave the nail clear so i'm going to go,in first of all with some of oxygenating, base,to create a sticky layer for the flakes,to stick into,so i'm going to apply one coat of this, one thin coat of this, onto the nail imagine you've already got, your base coat,on the nail so this would be your second, coat and this is purely for design, purposes,so i'm applying a thin layer of,oxygenating base coat, and we're going to leave it wet we're,not going to cure this i'm then going to,take the by sculpture, round 6 brush and pick up some of,these flakes on the brush and i'm going,to start to,drop them in to this wet layer mainly, focusing on the center part of the nail, and because they're colored flakes, you'll see that color, peeking through and get that nice pink, undertone which is,so beautiful and then i'm gonna pop that,in the lamp to cure whilst that's curing,i'm just gonna grab my palette out,and decant a little bit of renee onto, the, palette which is a beautiful glitter gel,and just pop a little bit of that there, okay so this has just come out of the, lamp now it is cured and set,in place i'm just going in with this, essence glitter brush just to dust over, the top make sure there's no loose, little bits of flakes anywhere, and just to make sure everything's,laying nice and smooth i'm now going to,go in with the upper arch brush and just, take some of this, gel and we're going to do an outline, around the edge we're going for kind of,a crystally, natural vibe for this nail so you don't,have to be super perfect with this it,can be,squiggly and messy around the outer edge, once i've applied that glitter gel all, around the edge i'm going to use my,brush, and slowly start to drag that glitter, gel in towards the center of the nail, you can bring the glitter gel in as far,as you want it to go,and i'm going to pop that in the lamp to,cure so that nail has just come out of,the lamp i'm going to go in with the, gloss top coat now just one even coat of,this over the, whole entire surface of the nail make, sure you cap your free edge, and pop it in the lamp for a final cure,so,there we have it that is the finished, nail, super magical opal kind of gemstone, iridescent unicorn vibe nail i've just, taken the nail off the little stand, and rested it on top of my thumb so you,can see what it looks like on a nail, look how m

Isabel May - RUN HIDE FIGHT - 77 Venice Film Festival
red film radio i'm matt makutsu from the,77th,venice international film festival and,i'm very pleased to be joined by isabel, may thank you very much for joining us,thank you for having me it's a pleasure,to be here uh well it's a real treat uh,you are presenting the film, run hide fight yes and uh as the lead, actress of the film, and uh well i mean it's an amazing film,i watched it this morning but you know, for the benefit of the listeners, how would you sort of introduce the, character you know perhaps as if she was,a,a friend of yours or an acquaintance of,yours you've known quite well, for a while um so her name is zoe hole, and she is a young woman that's,kind of emotionally detached at the, moment because she has just lost her, mother a couple months, prior to the events that occur, and and therefore she has very few, friends, she's kind of part of a community that,is a little more,um you know get down and dirty you know, and um and she is struggling with her, relationship with her father, and so she's someone that you may have, met uh,in school who just you could tell is a,friendly person,a likable one but you have a difficult, time talking to because there's clearly, something that they're struggling with, sure do you identify with her in certain, ways um the kind of,anti-social aspect really yeah a tad a,tad i think we all have a secret,anti-social right it's a very shy person,it's hard not to be it's it's hard to be,an extrovert yeah for some people yeah i,i i wasn't a big fan of school growing,up you know i don't know i wasn't either,i was i was i was a fan of education i,was not a fan of the, kind of social environment um some, people do well, others don't yes i personally didn't so,i related to her on that,uh level um but no her her life is very, different than mine,it's quite a physically demanding role i,find i found, right quite a few bruises you did oh,absolutely, what was the process like i mean do you, like that kind of this kind of role you, like to,sort of do you know the old fighting and, running around and getting uh gritty, sort of heroic, yes uh type of character you like to do,that now well it was it's,technically my first film ever so i,don't really have anything to compare it,to right, but i really i really enjoyed it but i,enjoyed it because i also got to be,vulnerable and emotional and it wasn't,solely about the action but that was an,aspect to it of course uh so yeah, and of course this film kind of talks, about a very serious issue you know, school, shootings so did you ever think about, that aspect i mean do you have any,you know views on this current situation,um,well i was incredibly frightened to to,take it on,but that was kind of why i thought i,needed to take it on right, and it's been as an american it's been a,part of my reality my entire life, just being aware that that could happen,to my uh to me at my school, and i i feel like we've ignored it for, long enough, you do no i find that and and we will be,talking with the director as well that, this is quite uh,an amazing film in the sense that it,might be one of the first times that the, story of a school shooting,is seen from uh uh you know the the, point of view of someone who tries to do,something about it,as it takes place but did you have any, like reference points in terms of,uh you know heroines in um in cinema, history in film and other films that you, kind of look to as,a sort of a guidance i suppose i didn't,want to do that because i felt,um you know it could have easily been a,young woman that kind of became a female, rambo, and she's not that she's a she's a,teenager and i wanted you i,i hope you know people feel this way but, director and i um wanted her to be a kid,and we wanted to remind you of that, constantly this is a kid that is,finding the courage within herself to do,something pretty remarkable, but she's frightened the entire time and,so i felt as though no i i,i just i'm a teenager i'm a teenager, right now so,i understand what that's like so just, kind of took my own experience, from others experience that uh,awkwardness that, insecurity and yeah harbored that and, used it as best i could, isabel it's been a pleasure oh thank you,so much thank you, thanks a lot and this is fred from radio, the festival insider

Behind-the-Scenes of Cowboy Camp | 1883 | Paramount+
Behind-the-Scenes of Cowboy Camp | 1883 | Paramount+
i don't rehearse with my actors, there's no way for me to inform them, what this way of life is you just have,to do it i just take them out and put, them to work the purpose of cowboy camp,is to get actors comfortable enough on,the horses that they weren't nervous, when they were riding, the better i can make them as a rider, the more they understand the thing, they're acting out the better the, performance is the more authentic the, scenes look then it looks real cowboy, camp is the actors get here about eight,o'clock and then we start just exposing, them to real life situations in 1883,cowboy camp was probably the most, helpful thing in the world morning guys, good morning how's everybody doing and,we all got to spend a couple of weeks, together just riding horses and roping, and herding cattle, and here comes taylor walking up like,he's the first one out there, and he'll never ask you to do anything, that he doesn't do as far as being on a,horse,we take him down and have him work, cattle we have them part them out and, sort them, roping horseback riding, herding, cows,we take them down to the pond and have, them swim horses so we can prepare them, for the river crossings that are coming,up in the script, most of us have learned how to drive, wagons which is dangerous by the way, climbing up rocks going through lakes, and rivers and steering cattle,i'm learning how to ride a horse and um,i'm swinging the robe around, shooting guns back to riding horses, lasso rooms,we just played little games where you,put for example an egg on a spoon and, have to ride, straight back and forth and whoever does,it the fastest wins,so it was really fun we had to carry the,egg on the spoon but i dropped it every, time,so some people were getting a little, crafty and when they get further away, from us their thumb would ease over the,egg so you really can't,see what's going on and like wait a,minute like you got glue on that or,something like well you know what's,going on,i'd heard taylor cheated when he does it,that he puts his thumb on on the egg i'm,not saying that that's true,i'm just saying that taylor i've heard, the taylor cheated there's no proof,of cheating, but it is suspected,no everyone was very competitive but in,a,supportive way to somewhat degree, everything that we have done we've,learned how to do it properly by the, best of the best, for all the talent they're trying to get, them comfortable with driving and riding, but then when they get on camera it,becomes second nature to them they can, able to remember their lines and not, panic they look the part, they feel the part they can be the, cowboy,a lot of what we're doing now is day in,and day out so this becomes second, nature,so when we're going to the script that's,what you could focus on and not have to,worry about where my hands are or,where's the gun and you must know how to,do it the right way otherwise it's just, kind of it's watered down and it just, feels wrong, cowboy camp gets you ready for the show, you're not showing up and putting some, dirt and makeup on before you ever do,that you're falling off of a horse your, back is hurting you,a cowboy in 1883 you didn't have nice, cushiony saddles you know you didn't,have all the all the fancy modern, equipment that you have today it's bare, bones it's bare knuckles, this is my first time on an 1880s saddle,100 years ago if you went across country, from new york to california that's the,way you went, this is rougher and hack,i'll tell you it's a lot harder than it,looks when you see those wagon drivers, kind of leaning over i mean,oh man i'd do a number on your back, there's an experience of of time you, know you realize oh people traveled like, this for 5 000 miles and you understand, what a journey like this means, this training, creates an authentic cowboy because, you're you know the blisters are real, the cuts are real you know i'm running, into barbed wire fences on my horse,i've been to like hell week in camps and, football and, this is a whole different beast and when, they get off at night they feel like, their legs have melded they got cramped,in their thighs they got cramps in their, calves they're going to microbiota sword, yeah probably is you ain't never shut, the saddle that long they're grinding us,into the ground i mean by the time we,finish uh riding horses i'm like, completely soaked through like it's kind,of gross i feel bad for uh everyone that, has to smell us,cowboy camp was this incredible bonding, experience between all of the talent, everybody gets to come out there they, don't know each other and they start to,sort of work together and understand, what their characters are going to be,where are they going and how hard this,is going to really be,cowboy camp is extremely important for, teamwork we're all trying to build, chemistry as actors and there's nothing, more team oriented than getting 28,cattle and over hills and through, alleyways for miles and miles so if,you're not communicating to your, teammates then it's not going to work, the only way to survive at t

Photographing The Lunar Eclipse | May 2022
another blood moon is gonna rise and i,am super excited so let's go get upset, outside to capture it,all right we're all set up outside i got,my tripod with my camera got my camera, got my book laptop phone yoga mat pillow, blanket and we even got the moon right,up there so i'm using my old bad quality, camera for this video so it probably, looks, terrible my bad but i gotta use my big, really good camera to get all the, pictures of the moon because that is the, goal and my dog is coming over better, knock knock my candle over, and he's gonna come right in the shot, yeah no move, come over here come here down here, yep his tail just his tail his tail just, blew up my candle i don't know how much, you guys can see but obviously there's,the moon and it's actually started to go,black a little bit so the eclipse has, started it is past 10 30 it is 10 43.,and um so it really starts at 11 30 and,its peak is at 12 11 a.m so i'm planning,on staying out here reading my book i,also brought water to reading my book, chilling on my laptop i feel like i'm,professional right now like this is so,much fun, and,i hope to get some great results and,i've been i'm trying to get pictures of,like every stage to maybe do like a,sort of like a panoramic thing like you, know have each picture side by side and,see like the evolution of the moon all, right i've taken my first little bit of,photos i'm gonna quickly, take those photos and just slide them on,my laptop, and i'm gonna see,how they turned out to see if i need to,do anything or switch any settings, all right this is precisely why i wanted,to check it out because all of these, photos, are horrible like like they're just, they're just horrible i'm gonna try to,lower the exposure on my camera and see,if that does anything there we go now, that is an amazing picture man, that is an amazing picture putting it on,screen right now,my cameras are not good enough to take, pictures of like the stars or the night, sky unfortunately and so i can't really, show you what the stars look like right, now but they look absolutely beautiful, like amazing and that's the one thing, that i do enjoy about summer is you can,lay out here in stargaze, okay yo just checked our subscribers for,one up two,in today i think, all right but it's time for another, picture so i figured i'd get this one on,cam for y'all, where's there it is,oh she's got a text from a friend ahmad,i just got your text dude and um well, this is sort of like your appearance in,the video,if you wanted to say but i'm glad you're,excited to see my photos i'm excited to,see my photos,a little update it is 11 33 i did go,inside and get myself some bagels, with some peanut butter because i am,starving after work i've been fooling, around with the settings on my camera, and now because the moon like the moon,is still in frame but you just can't see,it because it's not even bright anymore,it's it's dark but it but it is red, because my camera's not the greatest the, photos that i'm pulling out which i'll,show you on screen aren't the best,so i'm hoping um as time goes on it gets, brighter and brighter even if i go away, tonight and,i kind of get shitty pictures like i'm,kind of fine with that because this, whole experience was really really fun,and it was really nice to watch it i,just googled and found out that lunar, eclipses can happen like three times a,year like one or three times a year and, last one i seen was february of 2019 and,i thought they were rare how come i've,never seen another one,or even a heard of another one,on the internet yo y'all put that photo,on screen yo that is a fire photo oh my,god, let's see what we get,oh wow, when i take the pictures from inside the, lens they do focus and i do have the, part of the like the tips of the trees, coming into the photos as you guys can,see and i think that makes it look so,much better these photos do look really, good on my camera but i want to put them,on my computer just to see how they look,on a real screen because this is what,it's important on a real screen all, right so the photos are okay i've,encountered the problem the moon is not, entirely focused,i'm not sure if that's because my camera,is having a hard time focusing on it,because it is so dark the moon itself is,showing up very clearly like like the, shape and you see the different colors,in the moon uh as the moon is moving, through the trees from this location i,can no longer get good pictures i did,get two pretty good bangers though those, are gonna go up the screen now,but i'm gonna just go down from the deck, onto the grass and relocate see if i get, some better pictures because i can no,longer from here and it seems like the, moon is coming into focus more well, where's my phone is this that's not my,phone,oh yeah it's 11 58 so we're about, give or take 12 13 minutes away from its, peak point i do need to write in the, notes down which which two photos, were the best 82,e8,okay it is 12.07 so that means it's not, going to get any better than this so i,took a couple photos alr
